Moving to Canada

I am not a big fan of living in the States because I can't get married where I live and I also really enjoy the cold. I'm not that tempted by the free health care, which I've heard comes with very long waits, and since I have a chronic illness I wouldn't want to be on the end of a long list for basic treatment. Other than that I think the living conditions seem nicer.
How are the cities, though? I do like the cities where I live, I travel to New York and occasionally Boston. I am going to college in Maine next fall, so I know I'll like the weather. Has anyone here had a successful move?
