Nigeria is taking delivery of a consignment of T-72 main battle tanks and other armoured vehicles, a Czech defence official has confirmed.
The tanks are being delivered using an An-225 aircraft by the Excalibur Group, a Czech company that specialises in refurbishing military equipment. The Antonov Airlines transporter was photographed being loaded with four T-72s at the Czech Republic's Ostrava-Mosnov airport on 26 January.
"The equipment will be transported to the customer aboard the Antonov An-225 Mriya within several days," Excalibur Group spokesperson Andrej Cirtek told IHS Jane's . "The aircraft will make three trips between Ostrava-Mosnov and the end user to transport a total of 16 vehicles."
