The mysterious crash of the Russian plane...
A noise was heard in the last second of the cockpit voice recording from the Russian plane that crashed last week in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, the head of the joint investigation team said Saturday, bolstering U.S. and British suspicions that the plane was brought down by a bomb.

However, Ayman el-Muqadem warned it was too early to say what caused the plane to apparently break up in mid-flight. Analysis of the noise was underway.

Investigators believe it's a bomb which brought down the Sinai plane. The Russians are now concerned that the terrorist sympathizers might start targeting Russians back home [in Russia]. I suppose they were prepared for some reprisals but obviously not reprisals of this magnitude.

Russian officials believe Sinai plane brought down by bomb: U.S. sources| Reuters
Russian communications intercepted by U.S. intelligence agencies showed Russia believed the plane that crashed in Sinai, Egypt, on Oct. 31 was brought down by a bomb, U.S. sources familiar with the matter said on Monday.

The intercepts are among pieces of evidence leading U.S. officials to suspect that a device planted on Metrojet Flight 9268 exploded shortly after the Airbus A321 took off from the resort city of Sharm al-Sheikh, the sources said.
