Pentagon delegation most likely will
Discuss Pakistan's Defence needs and look at our wish list etc. I expect to hear some positive news in terms of release of some equipment through CSF resolution.

They are not here to discuss coordination of border management or building a wall. Infact USA has been playing a double game by keeping the issue of Durand line alive in Afghanistan.

For those hoping to resolve the issue of T129 engines will also be disappointed. USA has zero incentive to let Pakistan buy those helicopters especially since they want to punish Turkey. They may offer more choppers to us and force us to spend 1.5 billion dollars with them instead.

Too many unknowns. By the way I am just curious if we still have the congressional approval for 18 F16 C/D that we did not buy in 2006, and Eight we refused to buy in 2015?

If they have an approval then we can still buy 26 aircrafts from them......

Provided ofcourse if we have money available .
Those contracts have expired.

However, getting Congress to sit by a sale isn't an issue, rather, it's the use of FMF/CSF. So, the current administration has to sell Congress on the latter, not so much selling F-16s to Pakistan. In 2004/2005, the PAF had scoped 55 Block-52+, so if it's now moving ahead with F-16s again, it may request 36 Block-72. That's a $4.5 billion US deal.

Current Administration only deals in Hard Cash. They don’t believe in pending payments. Yes small incremental payments will be released like the one we saw of 125Mil. But we are seeing any jump in a huge number. Cobras are the priority No 1along with the Third Party Transfer permission for Our T-129 Engines.
Cash is the King. If admistarion release our CFF that would be enough for F16 and cobra package.

Also, in the coming months, looted wealth of about 20 to 25 billion USD may get recovered via the plea bargain of the corrupt elite. That would also be a help in stabilizing the economy and maybe pay the initial installments of these expected purchases (when the time comes).

Better add another 10 billions by ur pocket in span of 7to 8yrs make one bumper package I assure U with that money LM will set up atleast MRO facilities and gave Us access to more sensitive tech too fixing our short to medium term requirements for all three forces.

IMO we won't use sovereign/national funds for American equipment. It must be via CSF/FMF. Otherwise, it's too much risk (Pressler Redux). However, if we do use hard cash then we should demand 66%+ offsets wherein LM invests in Kamra Aviation City on MRO, parts manufacturing, etc.

For Blk 70/72, even if you paid 100% cash upfront, you wont even get 10% offset. Cutting edge tech comes at a premium.

Btw I have a feeling this time around it will be GE engines §§•

It depends. Offsets can be a form of FDI, and with the right FDI, LM et. al can make 1.5X to 2X on the original contract.

So, for example, if LM sets-up a composites manufacturing facility in Pakistan, they could end up supplying aerostructures for Project Azm plus third-party contracts to Turkey, Europe, and heck, even India. Pakistan's benefit in this is that the money stays as a foreign currency inflow, and that LM's local site gives Pakistanis jobs.

But if you're going to dangle offsets, then you have to give private sector to the crown jewels, like supplying sub-assemblies, electronics, etc for Project Azm, for a start.

Hi,

The situation is extremely un-predictable at this moment---.

5 years ago---pakistan was in a position to be in total control of the region---it chose to stay ordinary rather than become extra ordinary---.

Couple of three months ago---it still got a life line from the emirates---and yet it failed again---.

So---getting the F16's---next to impossible now---even getting the SU35's next to impossible---.

The only thing left is some old and beat up Mirage 3 / 5---some JH7A's and the J10C's---.

Take your pick boys---.

Pakistan indeed missed the opportunities but it's defense forces continue to create new opportunities.
Issue is not limited to US policy change but the payments in lieu off.
If the deal is going through, some friendly country is deeply involved and who else could it be other than Saudis!
