This system is being shown on a vehicle which looks like an APC. It can also be integrated on an MBT or a transport truck.

I see two concerns. One is cost and other is safety of infantry operating next to a vehicle which has ADS on it.
Every MBT has an electro optical system (EOS) which is used as laser range finder for the main gun. Another EOS is required for active protection, which maybe 4 in numbers to provide a 360 deg safety from incoming projectiles. This brings up the cost issue. Its normal for an MBT to get fitted with an APS like ADS, but to equip every military vehicle in combat zone with this system requires a big budget.

In combat zones, dismounted infantry works closely with MBT's, IFV's APC's etc. ERA is by itself dangerous to infantry on impact, though the armoured vehicle remains safe. I am not sure if infantry can remain when ADS is activated.

I have tried to get Ulla here from the other forum, since he has served in an Anti-Tank Bundeswehr unit.
