Some photos of the aselsan SAGER new type thermal sight, spesifically designed for AT-14 Kornet ATGMs in Jordanian Army service. It's more advanced than russian 1PN79-1 thermal sight used on Kornet's (however Ruskies tried to examine it) With this device Jordan becomes the only country that operates Kornet-E missiles with superior thermal sights...

Germany handed over an initial instalment of Marder 1 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to Jordan on 11 December.

The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) released a statement saying that an initial batch of 16 Marders from a total of 25 had been donated by Germany.

The German Ministry of Defence released a video of the handover ceremony in which Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen said the first instalment consisted of 16 Marders and that another 34 would follow. She said the IFVs would help Jordan fight the Islamic State militant group. Germany is also providing 70 trucks and 56 minibuses to the Jordanian military.

The JAF released a photo showing three Marder 1 IFVs fitted with the weapon stationed with a 20 mm autocannon and the add-on side armour that is normally associated with the Marder 1 A3 and later versions.

Jordan marks handover of 12 US Black Hawk helicopters
29.01.2018

ZARQA, Jordan – Jordan has marked the U.S. delivery of 12 Black Hawk helicopters over the past nine months with a military ceremony, including a hostage rescue drill and a flyover.

The helicopters are meant to help secure the borders of Jordan against external threats, including from Islamic State extremists in neighboring Syria and Iraq.

IS militants have been pushed back from large swaths of territory by a U.S.-led military coalition in which Jordan plays a key role.

Sunday's ceremony at a Jordanian military base was attended by Gen. Joseph Votel, commander of the U.S. Central Command.

The Royal Jordanian Air Force and its Quick Reaction Force showcased the Black Hawks in a drill showing the rescue of a wounded hostage.

The aircraft were delivered between March and December 2017.

NATO launches defence capacity building project for Jordan

19 Feb. 2018

NATO launched a Defence Capacity Building Project on "Enhancing Jordan's capacity for Crisis Management, Continuity of Government and Exercises" on Monday (19 February 2018). The three-year project will assist the Jordanian National Centre for Security and Crisis Management in achieving full operational capability, and will enhance Jordan's capacity in national resilience, continuity of government and crisis management.

At the project initiation signing ceremony, Brigadier General Adnan Al-Abbadi, Vice Chairman of the Jordanian National Center for Security and Crisis Management, and NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Dr. John Manza, stressed the importance of NATO's cooperation with Jordan in its efforts towards institutionalizing national crisis management capabilities.

Contributions by four Allies ? the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, and Turkey ? to the NATO Defence Capacity Building Trust Fund made this flagship project possible.

Initiation of this project represents an important milestone for the NATO-Jordan Defence Capacity Building Package and in the strategic partnership between NATO and Jordan.

Jordan's King Appoints New Intelligence Director

Amman - Mohammed Kheir al-Rawashdeh

Jordanian King Abdullah II has appointed Major General Ahmed Husni as the new Director of the country’s General Intelligence Department (GID), replacing Lieutenant General Adnan al-Jundi.

The new director, who held major positions in the past, has served as director of Amman’s intelligence at the rank of brigadier general for five years, during which the Kingdom witnessed wide changes in street demands.

Husni took over his duties as part of efforts to accomplish the development of the General Intelligence Service and its structure, within the criteria of enhancing the efficiency of the department, which is the most connected to the constitutional state institutions, security sources told Asharq Al-Awsat.

Sources added that the move comes as part of changes that include the nature of work of some state institutions whose performance has recently deteriorated.

Husni had joined the GID in the early 1980s, and sources said he was one of its operations officers. He served as director of the Department of Foreign Affairs before becoming director of Amman’s Intelligence Department and then the most prominent assistant to Jundi.

King Abdullah’s decision comes one week after making major changes within the Royal Court.

He appointed Bishr al-Khasawneh as his communication and coordination adviser, Kamal al-Nasser as the policies and information adviser and Manar al-Dabbas and Mohammed al-Assass as his general advisers.

Political sources in Amman spoke of imminent changes in the leadership of the security services.

“These changes will include restructuring official media sectors to enhance communication with public opinion after the decline in the impact of official media institutions in transferring news and information,” said Jordanian officials.

They explained that the decline is due to the dominance of social media sites which lack accuracy and credibility.
