Russia increases strike range with S-400 V4 missiles

Russia has boosted its S300V4 missile system with a new long range missile system with the ability to hit targets at a range of 400km with a hypersonic speed of Mach 7.5. It can also be deployed to hit aerial targets in the same range and the system is able to destroy tactical, operational tactical and medium range ballistic missiles.

The cycle continues where every super power is trying to be one step ahead the other. Many people may not be concerned with the continued development of these sophisticated weapons. To me this a worrying scenario. There are too much of these weapons and my greatest concern is about the disposing of these weapons when they become obsolete.

Are you talking about S400 or S300?
Your title mentioned S400v4, but in your post it says S300V4.

S400 always had the maximum range of 400km, but it requires to use its longest range AA missiles to achieve that range. (S400 system actually use 3 different types of missiles for different ranges). The problem with this specification is the maximum range does not guarantee high hit rate. The further the missiles have to travel, the less chance it will be able to hit the target once it get there. Even in theory, its longest range missiles are only good for attacking slower moving, less maneuverable targets such as early warning aircraft and bombers.
