Why did Russia lock onto their war jets bro?
Because Israel has violated Syrian Airspace numerous amount of times and we made it clear we weren't going to tolerate anyone violating airspace in Syria. One reason we deployed the A-50E AWAC there was to help us keep a situation to see if we had enemy violating the airspace.

a TU-142 was spotted over Syria back in June. This was used as a ISR ( Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance) platform to pinpoint targets for aircraft to conduct strikes

we aren't working with Israel whatsoever in this conflict. There was an allegation going around were our SU-30SM stationed in Syria locked on Israeli war jets. The Main reason why we don't work with Israel is because of their links with the FSA.

Israel has no links to the FSA whatsoever.

They did to a point but they have calmed down majorly. I have heard they given the FSA Weapons like B-300. Plus Israel has treated wounded FSA Fighters, held some meetings etc. I am not forcing you to change your opinion but Israel has gotten involved to a point in the conflict.

All rumours. There is not evidence to that at all. If you have any please do share.

A Russian Mi-8 helicopter has been shot down by ground fire in Syria following delivery of humanitarian supplies to Aleppo, the Defense Ministry said. Three crew and two officers from Russia's Reconciliation Center died, according to a Kremlin statement.

The Russian military transport Mi-8 helicopter was shot down in Syria on Monday over an area controlled by Al-Nusra Front, Russia’s General Staff said.

“The helicopter was hit from the ground in an area under control of the armed units of Al-Nusra Front terrorist group and the troops of the so-called ‘moderate opposition’ who joined them,” General Sergey Rudskoy, chief of the main operations department of the Russian General Staff, said.
On August 1, an Mi-8 transport helicopter has been shot down by ground fire in Idlib province after a delivery of humanitarian aid to the city of Aleppo. Three crew members and two officers from the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria were on board," the Defense Ministry said in a statement earlier on Monday.

The helicopter was returning to the Russian air base at Khmeimim, the statement added. The ministry has not yet revealed identities of those on board.

The Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria has operated at Khmeimim air base since February. It contributes to peace talks between Syrian government and moderate opposition factions not aligned with IS, Al-Nusra Front or other terrorist groups.

The center also oversees ceasefire agreements between belligerent parties and delivery of humanitarian supplies to various parts of Syria.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed in a statement later in the day that all those on board are dead

According to Tasnim dispatches, the Russian warplanes have hit 80 targets in northern outskirts of Idlib and southern suburbs of Aleppo over the past few hours.

Reports suggest that the harshest strikes have occurred near the location of downing of a Russian Mi-8 helicopter, which was shot down on August 1 in Idlib province after a delivery of humanitarian aid to Aleppo.

According to Russian military officials, the chopper was hit from the ground in an area under control of the armed units of al-Nusra Front terrorist group.

The intensified Russian aerial attacks come amid an extensive ground operation by the Syrian military forces to recapture the northern city of Aleppo from the terrorist groups.

Sources at Aleppo battlefield said on Wednesday that Syrian troops have repelled successive attacks by the terrorist groups desperately trying to break the siege of the city.

The Syrian soldiers, backed by voluntary forces, continue to liberate more territories near the city of Aleppo in their large-scale military offensive to liberate the strategic city.
