As far as Air power is concerned Saudia is way ahead of Iran, even there airdefenses are far superior then the Iranians. Iran does have a qualitative edge when it comes to ground and naval forces @Khafee @Scorpion can you shed some light on the above snapshot.

The snapshot is a bit outdated. Iran indeed outnumber Saudi Arabia in terms of armed forces that is why Iran relies on human waves instead of modern day warfare tactics however, Saudi Arabia does balance quality and quantity. Iran does not share borders with Saudi Arabia so in case of military conflicts, Iran will rely on missiles and suicide drones fired at once that is why you see Iran stockpile missiles and drones by the hundreds.

Saudi Arabia has 1340 MBT, 5762 AFV, Self-propelled gun itself is more than 700. Saudi Air Force operates 390 fighter jets. Not to mention AWACS, 8 areal refueling, transport aircraft C-130 (Can be used also in aerial refuling|), other transport aicrafts, EWF ISR 350 Ers , attack and support helicopters Apache and Blackhawk.

The Saudi navy has 12 Frigates, 40 CMN boats, 10 attack boats, 18 patrolling boats (Halter Marine)
8 mine hunters, [19 P-8 Poseidon aircraft, LCS (awaiting delivery)], AS532 Cougar. I have not mentioned Saudi Coast guard.

Having said that, any confilct with Iran will not be one vs one. Iran sure know that. The entire Arab world will join the war for sure aside from Saudi Arabia non Arab allies.

Interesting.

I'm curious as to why, despite having such a large coastline, the KSA hasn't got any submarines in their navy? Any particular reason?

Thanks

Asharq Al-Awsat

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, met at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Thursday with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

At the outset of the meeting, Pakistan’s PM strongly denounced the attacks on Aramco facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, expressing his country's full support and stand with the Kingdom in confronting these sabotage acts, SPA said.

The Crown Prince stressed that sabotage acts aim to destabilize the region, affirming the importance of addressing such attacks, the news agency said.

The meeting was attended by Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd, Minister of the State and Member of the Cabinet; Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Khalid Al-Humaidan, Chief of General Intelligence; Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Malki, and the Pakistani Prime Minister's accompanying delegation, SPA added.

Saudi Arabia Wins IAEA Board of Governors Membership
Thursday, 19 September, 2019

Saudi Arabia won a membership in the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Thursday, the state news agency SPA reported.

The Board is one of the two policy-making bodies of the IAEA, along with the annual General Conference of IAEA Member States.

The Board examines and makes recommendations to the General Conference on the IAEA's financial statements, program and budget. It considers applications for membership, approves safeguards agreements and the publication of the IAEA's safety standards. It also appoints the Director General of the IAEA, with the approval of the General Conference.

The Board generally meets five times per year: in March and June, twice in September (before and after the General Conference) and in November.

Very disturbing news if true. Unbelievable if entire Saudi brigade surrendered ....

I have read about this, it seems to a weeks long battle inside Yemen where Houthi's besieged Saudi trained Yemeni forces in an specific mountainous area and some of them surrendered. Some Saudi forces tried assisting supposedly and faced some casualties. Houthi's say will they will reveal details tomorrow. I doubt their claims of capturing three whole Saudi brigades which is ridiculous. They captured hundreds of the Yemeni forces likely.

Saudi King Salman's bodyguard killed during dispute
Police say Maj Gen Abdulaziz Al Fagham was shot in Jeddah after argument with a friend

A personal bodyguard of Saudi Arabia's King Salman was shot and killed by a friend after a dispute, police said on Sunday.

Maj Gen Abdulaziz Al Fagham was fatally shot at the home of a friend in Jeddah, according to a statement from the Makkah police department.

Police said Al Fagham was visiting his friend Turki Al Sabti when a mutual friend named Mamdouh Bin Mishaal Al Ali arrived. Al Ali left the house after an argument with Al Fagham but returned later with a gun and shot him. He also wounded Mr Al Sabti and a Filipino employee, police said.

Al Ali was killed during a gunfight with members of the security forces who arrived at the house, five of whom were injured, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported.

Al Fagham died of his injuries in hospital.

It was not clear when the incident took place.

Tributes poured in for the bodyguard on social media, with many including pictures of him at work. One showed him bending down to apparently help tie the shoes of King Salman.

Others show Al Fagham at events with both King Salman and his predecessor, the late King Abdullah.

"May you rest in peace, hero," senior Saudi royal court adviser Turki Al Sheikh tweeted.

Gun crimes are rare in Saudi Arabia. According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, in 2017 there were 419 reported homicides among its population of about 30 million.
