King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology will sign an agreement with Ukrainian plane manufacturer antonov this Wednesday to built the plane in saudi or parts of it.
no details yet. will wait until Wednesday and il post the details in this thread.

i always said saudi should have took the opportunity long time ago and buy this company or become partners.

King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology announced the alliance technical industrial with Ukrainian Antonov company and technology to fly in the development, manufacture and production of Antonov planes 32 multi-purpose weight load of 10 000 kg project, and the project aims to engage in the manufacturing of aircraft and transport aircraft manufacturing technology and gain experience from international companies for the training and rehabilitation of national cadres in the disciplines of science and technology and aviation through joint work and manufacturing with international companies for the aircraft industry. 17 April, Kyiv, Antonov State Company unveiled a new aircraft AN-178.

The ceremony was attended by government representatives, MPs, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko, several thousand employees of the plant, as well as a lot of viewers.



AN-178 transport aircraft with 18-ton load capacity can be used for military missions, as well as for civilian purposes. It is equipped with self-contained loading facilities.



It is not necessary for AN-178 to land to deliver cargoes - it has the ability to release them in the air.

Moreover, the aircraft may be equipped to transport military and evacuate wounded from the hot spots.

AN-178 can reach speeds of over 800 km/h.


According to the management of Antonov State Company, it is planned to start testing the new aircraft on 7 May 2015

i cant see the photos

anyways im glad that we did this but a bit frustrated that we didnt go in as full partners! there was a huge opportunity there.
we could have invested money on some of the planes to make them lighter, greener, more fuel efficient with a reasonable price and cheep maintenance.
they could have gained a better market share in cargo and military planes. and some small cheap civilian planes
disappointing >>_*

The cooperation is just a milestone and could evolve to making military fighter jets in the near future. Its a good step for KSA military industry. "Little drops of water, little grains of sand, make the mighty ocean, and the pleasant land''.*-^
