Somali militants it captured chinese WZ551 armored personnel carriers during an attack on military bases of Kenya Defence Forces in western Somalia.

Al-Shabaab terror group attacked camp of Kenya Defence Forces soldier under Africa Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) in El-Adde. Kenya has not given casualty figures beyond saying both sides sustained losses.

During the attack, the rebels managed to capture WZ551 wheeled armored personnel carrier produced in China by Kenya Defence Forces. China supplied 32 WZ551 armored personnel carriers to KDF in 2007.

The WZ551 is a Chinese wheeled armored personnel carrier. It is actually consisted of two families of vehicles with official designations in the People’s Liberation Army as Type 90 and Type 92. Roughly 900 WZ551s are in service with the PLA

Is this Al Shabaab not really connected to ISIS? It seems that the civil war in Somalia is getting heated because it looks like someone is financing the rebel group. If the Somali army couldn't quell Al Shabaab now then it may be like ISIS that would capture a part of the territory for theirs to claim. A CNN news said that rebels all over the world are getting inspired by the success of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
