Storm Shadow readies for UK flight trials

Finmecannica-Alenia Aermacchi completed a series of ground tests at its facility in Turin-Caselle and at BAE Systems' facility in Warton, UK, in early June, preparing MBDA's Storm Shadow conventionally armed, long-range deep-strike weapon for flight trials in the UK with the Eurofighter Typhoon in late 2015.
Storm Shadow is being integrated on the Eurofighter Typhoon as part of the Phase 2 Enhancement (P2E) package - which will also see MBDA's Meteor beyond visual-range air-to-air missile integrated with the aircraft.
Finmecannica-Alenia Aermacchi, supported by MBDA, leads the programme to integrate Storm Shadow onto Typhoon and will also lead the forthcoming flight trials, supported by engineers from BAE Systems.
