Automatic expulsion of foreigners who commit even minor crimes is being pushed by a right wing nationalist party and to be decided by a referendum by Swiss voters. This is part of the initiative to tighten measures against foreigners. Some criticize the impending law to be discriminatory but the right wing party insists on it.

This is the first I've heard on the subject, but it doesn't seem surprising that stringent nationalists would hold this platform. Most likely what would happen, if anything related to this passes, is that the lower level offenses would be struck from the ruling, and it would ultimately affect only those without legal standing in the country, who commit high level offenses, such as extremely violent crimes.
