Syrian President Says Islamic State Expanding Despite Airstrikes | Military.com

Syrian President Bashar Assad says the Islamic State group has been expanding since a U.S.-led coalition began its airstrikes on the group in Iraq and Syria last year.

In an interview with CBS News aired Sunday night, Assad said IS has been gaining more recruits with some estimates showing "1,000 recruits every month in Syria."

Assad, using an alternative acronym for the IS group, said in the interview: "If you want to talk in terms of ISIS, actually ISIS has expanded since the beginning of the strikes."

Assad added that IS has established a presence in Libya and that militant groups in Egypt and Yemen have claimed allegiance or loyalty to the group.

This is not good news and they are getting people to fight, and some young ones are conflicted and think it is a good cause and also needs to be stopped as well. It is alarming that, more recruits join each month and prepared to die for the cause and also don't worry about the consequences as well. It is sad to see how the young ones are brainwashed as well and, it is quite surprising how they believe what the terrroist group is saying to them to join them.

Syrian preisdent and Iraq sectarian government are behind the expansion of ISIS in both Syria and Iraq.
