The T-7 Red Hawk is the new advanced trainer for USAF. It looks like a new F-20 tigershark type trainer with an F-404 engine, same as in the Gripen. There is already talk of a fighter version.

The T-7 is made with new technology that will allow Boeing to produce them at very low cost and at a very rapid pace. So here we have a fighter with superior tech, better engine and similar aerodynamics to the JF-17.

Pakistan could buy some, perhaps if in the future there is an opportunity for CSF funds. Following are the benefits it would have for PAF / PN:

1. Keep a US aircraft for training with Western air forces
2. Low cost LIFT to keep pilots of F-16s, JF, etc proficient at minimal cost and least wear and tear to front line fighters
3. Fighter version could have AESA and AMRAAMs
4. With increasing pressure not to sell F-16s to Pakistan, this may be the best that is available to Pak from the US
5. Aerodynamically seems very close in capability to the F-16 / JF-17, with much better thrust and engines than the JF-17.

The Red Hawk would give Pakistan a low cost fighter that has AESA and AMRAAMs, and able to compete with any aircraft India throws at it. It would allow Pakistan to get a US fighter aircraft that is bringing in revolutionary manufacturing technology. PAF could keep the door open for Western aircraft rather than rapidly becoming a Chinese aircraft operator for the foreseeable future.

The PAF may opt for the Hurjet for its LIFT requirement. Very similar in specs to the T-7, but free of any ITAR nonsense.
