The deadline to secure the final operational clearance (FOC) for India's locally designed Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) Mk 1 has again been delayed, this time by nine months to the end of 2015, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar informed parliament on 19 December.

Former defence minister Arun Jaitley had told parliament in July that the LCA's FOC would be secured by March 2015, following a three-month delay.

Parrikar, however, said the first series-built LCA, which secured its initial operational clearance (IOC) in December 2013, would be handed over to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Bangalore in March 2015.
