THAAD system due to South Korea

The US is proposing the deployment of Terminal High Altitude Area Defence system (THAAD) to South Korea following the recent ballistic missile tests. North Korea has also launched a satellite into space. The US is concerned that North Korea is developing and test firing ballistic missiles which are capable of striking US territory and also seeking to develop technology that would enable them to fit the missiles with nuclear warheads. China and Russia have registered their protests at the deployment of such advanced systems on the Korean peninsula.
