The 65yr old former military general, led a military coup five years ago and declared himself as its leader.
Both upper and lower houses of Thailand's parliament, elected the former leader of the country's military junta Prayut Chan-ocha as the country's 29th prime minister, nominated by the Palang Pracharath Party
Out of 747 votes casted, he received 500 votes. His only opposition was from, Future Forward party candidate Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, who received 244 votes.
