On Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on behalf of President Vladimir Putin conducted a successful test launch of the Avangard missile with a hypersonic planning winged combat unit, the Kremlin press service reports.
“Putin arrived at the National Defense Control Center and gave the command to begin testing. The launch was conducted by combat crews of the Strategic Missile Forces compound from the Dombarovsky positional area at the Kura training ground in the Kamchatka Territory,” the Kremlin specified.
"During the flight at hypersonic speed, the planning winged unit completed vertical and horizontal controlled maneuvering and at the appointed time struck a conventional target on the battlefield"
