The strategic nature of Aleppo

The siege on Aleppo seems imminent with govt forces seeking to seal off the city and lay a deadly siege. The ceasefire looks fragile with Russian warplanes in action as ground fighting rages on. Aleppo is a gamechanger in the Syrian conflict and could either lead to a ceasefire along the lines of the Munich Agreement or a widening of the war with Turkey and Saudi Arabia directly on a largescale or lead to a final ascension of Assad.
