Turkish jets and artillery struck 10 ISIS targets as they were preparing to fire on Turkey, the country's General Staff said Sunday.

US-led coalition jets and Turkish howitzers hit ISIS rocket and mortar batteries stationed in north Syria's Dabik region late Saturday night. Eight militants were reportedly killed in the operation, the General Staff said.

ISIS has recently stepped up its attacks against Turkey, with a suicide attack late last month at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport which killed dozens and injured hundreds.

Meanwhile, Turkish jets also struck seven Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, targets in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari.

Airstrikes regularly target PKK positions in Turkey and northern Iraq, while fighting and curfews continue in several southeastern towns.

On Sunday, a roadside bomb in the Semdinli district of Hakkari killed five soldiers, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency, which blamed the attack on PKK rebels.

Nearly 600 Turkish security personnel have been killed by the PKK since a 2½-year cease-fire ended in July 2015.

The renewed conflict has also led to the death of an estimated 5,000 Kurdish militants, according to Anadolu Agency, and scores of civilians.

The PKP has waged a decades-long insurgency against the Turkish state in a conflict that has claimed more than 40,000 lives. PKP is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.

Turkey’s military says 25 PKK/PYD terrorists were “neutralized” in northern Syria in an air strike on Sunday.

In a statement, the Turkish Armed Forces said the air campaign was carried out against terrorist groups which had attacked Turkish soldiers supporting a Free Syrian Army (FSA) operation in Jarabulus. Five buildings used by the terrorists were also destroyed.

The Turkish military said it was showing the “utmost sensitivity” and taking “all necessary measures” to prevent damage to the local civilian population.

Turkey has said the Euphrates Shield operation, which started on Aug. 24, is aimed at improving border security, supporting coalition forces and eliminating the threat posed by terror organizations, especially Daesh.

Turkey’s campaign in northern Syria is being carried out in accordance with international law and the right of self-defense enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The FSA, as part of the Euphrates Shield operation, also liberated a village south of Jarabulus district controlled by the PYD terrorist organization, the Syrian wing of the PKK.

Ahmet Genco, commander of the FSA’s Nurettin Zengi group, told Anadolu Agency on Sunday that Syrian opposition forces had taken control of Amarne village from the PYD.

He said PYD members who controlled the region were “neutralized”, while a large amount of ammunition was seized.

Rockets, grenades, sniper rifles, mortar shells and a large number of bullets were among the seized materiel.

Genco said PYD terrorists tried to use civilians found in the village as shields.

FSA fighters who cleared Jarabulus of Daesh terrorists continue to advance toward the south of the district.

The Turkish army destroyed three PKK positions in airstrikes against the terrorist group in northern Iraq.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish General Staff, the warplanes carried out the airstrikes in the Avasin-Basyan and Hakurk regions between 1.11-3.34 p.m. (1011-1234GMT).

Ongoing Cukurca airstrikes

In addition, the army said two PKK terrorists were identified by a drone in Cukurca district of southeastern Hakkari province and killed in an airstrike.

Cukurca has been the scene of numerous airstrikes against the terrorist group since early September, which the army said "neutralized" 188 terrorists since then.

In the Semdinli district of the province, military operations killed 14 PKK terrorists, it added.

Turkish air strikes have killed 16 terrorists of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Hakkari near the border with Iraq over the past two days, security sources said on Wednesday.

The air strikes came after the PKK terrorists detonated a car bomb on Monday near local government offices in the city of Van further north, wounding 50 people including four police officers and four Iranian citizens.

The military said in a statement that nine terrorists had been killed in air strikes on Tuesday, in which a shelter, a cave and an ammunition depot were also destroyed. Security sources said a further seven were killed on Wednesday.

It seems like these two retards Assad and Maliki are not going to stop pouring prisoners in to join ISIS. Only a full scale military could solve this issue otherwise the headache will keep on going.

On Tuesday, Turkish jets completely damaged ammunition depots and shelters of PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, Defense Ministry affirmed.

The air attacks hit PKK terror positions in the Zap region, the ministry tweeted on Twitter.

In its over 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK - recognized as a terrorist group by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU - has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.

Ocalan Urges Kurds to Hold Dialogue with Damascus

Asharq Al-Awsat

The jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) urged on Monday the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces to hold negotiations with Damascus to reach a political solution to their pending disputes.

Abdullah Ocalan issued a rare statement calling on the SDF to resolve problems in Syria without conflict.

The statement from Ocalan, and three other senior PKK members, was read by lawyers who said they were allowed to meet him in a Turkish prison on Thursday for the first time since 2011.

“We believe that, within the scope of the SDF, problems in Syria should be aimed to be solved by staying away from a culture of conflict, with constitutional assurances given within the framework of Syria’s territorial integrity,” it said, according to Reuters.

It also said Turkish sensitivities should be taken into consideration in any work toward a solution in Syria.

It was not clear what specific potential conflict Ocalan was advising the SDF to avoid in Syria’s eight-year war, but he could have been referring to Turkish or Syrian regime forces.

Ocalan is the founder and leader of the outlawed PKK, which has waged an insurgency in southeast Turkey since the mid-1980s.

Ankara says Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) fighters spearheading the SDF are part of the PKK, which is designated a terrorist organization by the United States and European Union. Turkey has waged two military incursions in northern Syria against the YPG.
