The UralVagonZavod (UVZ) Baikal combat module will undergo trials on the Enigma infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next year, UVZ general director Oleg Sienko said in an interview published by Rossiyskaya Gazeta on 24 September.

On the same day, TASS reported that Sienko had said during the Russia Arms Expo 2015 show that several hundred Baikal combat modules would be sent to the UAE.

Baikal is the informal name for the AU-220M automated weapon station that is armed with a 57 mm gun developed by Burevestnik. The gun is said to be able to fire 120 rounds a minute out to a range of 12 km.

Aleksandr Ponomaryov, the gun's chief designer, recently told the Russian military TV channel that precision-guided ammunition is being developed for the weapon.
