Ukraine has built a heavy duty mine clearance vehicle, its version of the Aadvark. It has a 4 by 4 offroad chassis and a hauling capacity of 2 tonnes. The vehicle will be deployed to clear mines particularly in the flashpoint regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. The vehicle is fitted with heavy weapons and ammo to protect personnel to the IED site. It can detect and handle IEDs 15m away and has a bullet proof glass panel and PZSA-4 armour.

This is a welcome development, which I hope will be fully effective and adaptable to many other areas of the world. there have been many reports of the dangers resulting from mines which have been planted by warring factions, especially in places like Syria and Iraq. This heavy duty mine clearance could be deployed in these areas to eliminate the danger to the civilian population.
