United Nations Power

Is there really any power in the United Nations? Is it more of symbolic than it is about action? I recall when we sent peacekeepers into certain places. But their job was not to fight, but only to protect. There is a lot of problems in the world. Can the United Nations do more or is it an organization that is obsolete. I think that it should continue but that there needs to be more unity since it is supposed to be "united." If that was the case, I think we could truly solve more problems. Otherwise, there is no reason for having it.
