The Indian Military Command announced that the country's military used for the first time a US-produced "Excalibur" (M982 Excalibur) 155mm guided missile. The missiles are now in the service of the US military, as are the armies of Canada and Sweden, according to media reports on December 10.

Meanwhile, the first report on the use of the M982 Excalibur by the Indian Army appeared on Twitter the US embassy in New Delhi. The report indicates that Indian forces used active guided missiles during practical fire at the Pokhran training field. For this, the M777 howitzers were used.

The Top War website quoted the Indian military command as saying: "A precise body-oriented steering group has also been tested to ensure accuracy when firing. It was also acquired under a contract from the United States.

Within a few days, India will analyze the first use of Excaliburs, then draw conclusions.

But in the Indian press, conclusions have already been reached. Therefore, The Economic Times wrote in its article:

The use of the M982 Excalibur has increased the ability to hit targets with high accuracy over long distances within Pakistan.

Pakistan has not commented on the statements of the Indian press. In the export version of the projectiles, the hit range of the targets is about 40-45 km. At the same time, the United States has created a so-called "smart" missile, which has a range of 57 km. According to the latest information, the cost of one of these shells is about 180 thousand dollars. If Indian media certifies, the contract is signed to supply more than 600 units of M982 Excalibur.
