What are your views on this? They seem to be spending a lot of their tax revenue on infrastructure. Do you think they may at some point begin expanding their military by orders of magnitude.

I think that if any other country decides to antagonize them they will not be afraid to expand their military. It depends on what happens in the future. If they feel like they could be a formidable force, they might. If they feel as though they've had enough of everyone else, they might. If they want to enforce things within their country, they might. Basically if they feel the need to become more powerful, I believe they are more than capable. The things that go on within their country as not as bad as they could be, but they aren't good either. Based on that, to me, they should not be messed with.

They have been expanding their military since their economic boom. China has also taken an interest in the territories of weaker or less populated countries they can "bully" whenever convenient. Hence, all the more cause for military expansion. Did you know they set up bases in Senkaku and Shoal just so they can "legitimize" their baseless claims on those islands? That's military expansion for you.

China is already a threat and it's already expanding its military, navy and all its accessory armies, even its weapon just to ensure that they are always gonna be protected and that they are always gonna win a war. But they don't know that it's not all about military strength that could take home victory in war.

Damn I didn't realize this was the case at all. The last thing we need in the world now is another Russia and their militaristic tendencies. Not looking good really.

A war is a series of battles, whether or not you win each battle does not matter, it is the last battle in a war that counts. Ultimately wars are decidied by economics, USA before WW2 actually have a very small military, but it was still a super power. Germany and Japan lost WW2, mainly because of economics, the allies had a higher production ability and could outproduce Germany and Japan. As the USA showed prior to WW2, switching over to a full scale military economy, and building up your military can be done in two years.

China is playing it smart, spend 5% of what USA spends on their military, and let USA spend money on maintaining their military.

Don't trust what China says and does. Unlike Russia, they like to keep things under wraps and take one step at a time to become a giant nation like US. Sooner rather than later, Chinese military will be at par with US. For the time being, though, US will remain the king.
