As far as the game-show thing, There are people who are affectionate to children who aren't molesters. What about Lewis Carrol (Dr. Charles Dodgson)? Was he a pervert, or was the concept of how to deal with children simply different when and where he was? It is known that he eventually destroyed the photographic negatives of most of his nude little girl photos, possibly because the way people interpreted those photos changed that much during his lifetime. Alice was insistent that he had never behaved improperly towards her, even though he proposed marriage to her (perhaps to her parents) when she was 11.
