Saudi Arabia waged early Thursday “Operation Decisive Storm” against the Houthi coup in Yemen and in support of legitimate President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

A Saudi air campaign was launched overnight which has already resulted in the elimination of several Houthi leaders.

Yemen air space is currently under full control of the Saudi Royal Air Force.

As the operation continues, a coalition of all GCC countries, barring Oman, is taking part in the campaign, including Sudan, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan and Pakistan.

Saudi Arabia has deployed 100 fighter jets, 150,000 soldiers and other navy units, Al Arabiya News Channel reported.

I am surprised by capabilities of Arab world when forming coalition. If you include some Sunni nations like Turkey, then West/Israel are not needed at all to do strikes in Syria or Iran. Hell, Arab world can take on Israel if we tech transfer for munitions.

@Falcon29 Hamas has not shown at least a verbal support to the Saudi mission in Yemen! While President Mahmod Abbas did.

I haven't checked yet, but Hamas after Syria and Egypt sees it as better idea to not make any comments and has many issues in Gaza they're trying to resolve recently. If the Arab world is serious about forming coalition to combat Iranian/Israeli efforts in region then Hamas will fully stand behind that. But right now it is risky for them, because of hostile attitude from Egypt. Look what Hamas did in Syria, publicly supported revolution, in return got a bunch of hate from Arab world and no action during war on Gaza. If they support this operation, Iran will cut any remaining ties, and Arab world will still attack Hamas verbally. I don't blame Hamas. You need to recognize we are Arab Sunni like you, our ideology is very close if not exact same. However, this unneccassary hostility towards Hamas in name of viewing PA as legitmiate respresentative(Even though elections dictated otherwise) is problematic.

But This is our war Egypt has yet to take any role in this fight. The y are still thinking about although they pledged to do so. Hamas should at least support fellow arabs. Even the Syrian rebels and the Ahwazi people issued statements. Arabs have not attacked Hamas apart from Egypt. Show me one statement where Saudi Arabia criticizes or verbal accused/attack Hamas.

We all need to show solidarity despite our differences if any.

Egypt FM: Cairo to send ground forces to Yemen if needed

The Arab League endorses “Decisive Storm” operation on Houthis in Yemen. (File photo: Reuters)

In a show of Egypt’s fully-fledged support to the Saudi-led operation against the Houthis in Yemen, Egyptian foreign minister Samih Shoukri said Cairo was willing “to send ground forces if necessary” during an Arab League conference in Sharm al-Sheikh.

Shoukri spoke after Arab foreign ministers held a consultative meeting on Thursday ahead of the upcoming Arab League summit.

Egyptian officials have said four warships entered Suez en route to Gulf of Aden to give further support to Operation “Decisive Storm,” which was ordered early Thursday in response to President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi’s request in face of Houthis advancing toward the southern city of Aden, where is he currently based.

The officials added that the ships will take part in operations “to secure” the strategic waters that control southern access to the Suez Canal.

Earlier, an Egyptian military source said that Egypt participated in the military operation with both its naval and air force.

Meanwhile, Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi said “Decisive Storm” stems from joint defense agreements and was exercised after the Houthis rejected the Gulf initiative to invite the Shiite rebels to sit on the negotiating table in Riyadh and give a political solution credibility as oppose to using force.

Arabi said the League fully endorses the military operation.

Shoukri and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah, reiterated their countries’ stance that Hadi is the legitimate leader of Yemen, and said Houthis threaten the national security of the region.

Kuwait has contributed with 15 fighter jets to aid Saudi Arabia in its fight against the Houthis.

Al-Sabah, who is also Kuwait’s deputy prime minister, also urged the Houthis to implement the Gulf initiative as well as U.N. Security Council decisions.

The U.N. has previously denounced Houthis’ expansion and stressed that Hadi was Yemen’s legitimate leader.

Trust me, Hamas and most people of Gaza are with you. Just check their social media pages. But public statements is difficult right now, if diplomatic solution is reached then Hamas would lost a lot if it made a statement. Hamas has popular support in Yemen and they don't want to upset everyone. We view Arabs as fellow brothers but unfortunately they've been treating people of Gaza pretty badly because Hamas controls it. And we support Hamas. As I stated, if there is secret agreements between Arab world. We will support it.

However, if this situation escalates into regional war no doubt we will publicly support you if not send volunteers to fight in defense of Saudi Arabia. Do not worry about that, Arabs won't go down without a fight. No matter what happens we will not go down.

So far, there isn't much enthuasim amongst Western public for this operation. Meaning Arabs are at it alone. That also will mean naturally we will come closer together inshallah.

Doesn't seem like Iran can do anything. This was well calculated move by KSA. Unless it wants direct naval clash with Egypt/KSA and possible war between nations, it will not intervene. I haven't seen any sign that Houthi's are able to respond. Only thing that can be done is Shia demonstrations in Bahrain.
