Yemen political unrest impacting U.S. military, Pentagon says| Reuters

The Pentagon on Tuesday acknowledged that Yemen's political unrest was impacting its counter-terrorism capabilities but said it was still training some Yemeni forces and could still carry out operations inside the country against al Qaeda militants.

"There's no question as a result of the political instability in Yemen that our counter-terrorism capabilities have been ... affected," Rear Admiral John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, told a news briefing.

"As I stand here today, we continue to conduct some training. We continue to have the capability – unilaterally if need be – of conducting counter-terrorism operations inside Yemen."

Reuters reported earlier on Tuesday the United States was closing its embassy in Yemen because of the unpredictable security situation in a country where Iran-backed rebels have seized control of the capital.

The Pentagon declined to comment on the status of the embassy but said the U.S. military was ready to help evacuate embassy personnel, if asked by the State Department.

Alqaeda in Yemen is dead. Its just that the US want to ensure its existence in the region. That is all.

The instability in Yemen would be a fertile environment for the growth of militias...such as Hothey ,Al-Qaeda ,ISIS...etc
The lack of security in Yemen allowed to the outsiders to support their militias and now we see them controlling Yemen !

Few months and we'll see another organization like Daesh.

The unfortunate outcome all this political instability. This might sound like a conspiracy theory but it appears like there's a concerted effort to destabilize Arab nations for some reason. Just look around . . . Libya, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and others might follow suit. Extremist militias and terrorists now have many, many places where they can openly operate. So this war on terror . . . is futile.

Yeah, I agree .
If we look around the Arabic nation we can observe that there are 3 powers adopts an expansion goals which are :
[ Iran ] dreaming to bring back the Persian empire ..
[ Israel ] looking for the Greater Israel ..
[ Turkey ] as Iran dreaming to bring back the Ottoman Empire ..

For all these ambitions there are real attempts to apply them on the ground ! but as all time there are surprises facing them.|0|

I hope the US don't create another terrorist group in Yemen because they seem to be experts at creating home grown enemies in the countries that they go. Yemen may not be a safe haven for terrorists these days and the US should focus its efforts on fighting ISIS in the region.

Well it seems like the unrest has reached it boiling point because I saw somewhere today that the US will pull its troops from Yemen. I hope they can resolve this problem quickly before the terrorist groups move in and cause havoc in Yemen.

Everyone's already aware that these seemingly never ending problems in the Middle East have put so much pressure on America. Well, that's their just dessert for meddling too much in other country's affair. Now, after playing the role of a superpower for decades, everyone's expecting America to save the world from terrorism. Let's just hope defense officials are able to keep their sanity in check.
