When I look at the EW variant, I wonder why 12 pops to mind.

And how many Yemen like conflicts will Pakistan face? Moot point.

If you read my original post, I was talking about such a ship in the future for an expanded foreign policy initiative.

Secondly, in any case, such a ship could be used against India as mainly a helicopter carrier. One possible strategy for a navy could be to have low cost corvettes in numbers, without needing a helipad or hangar (using UAVs instead). The shortage of helicopters on these forward combatants would then be compensated for by this small aircraft carrier.

As you like to say, think out of the box. My main point remains is that in an expanded foreign policy, somewhere in the future, a rising Pakistani state would need a gunboat for gunboat diplomacy. Exactly like future Yemen and low intensity conflicts that have dominated war since the 80s to date.

Hypothetical question Bro. If you have ship repair / storage / misc. item replenishment facilities at a foreign port, wouldn't you consider that as a "de-facto" base?
I foresee substantial PLAN assets "visiting" Jinnah Naval Base in the near future.

I did say "EW Variant" not total flying sharks :)

That suggests at least 3 overall squadrons of J-15s. 4x per squadron. 18x3 = 54 total.

An alternative theory could be these are for a Gulf state who wants its own aircraft carrier crewed by Pakistani pilots. There would then need to be a base pool of pilots trained in the type. And a mock aircraft carrier land simulation in Pakistan. If this line of thinking is right, the client is most likely Saudi Arabia.

What goes against Islam?

Agree with Pakhtoon yum, doesn't go against Islam. An enemy caught in battle can be slaughtered. However, if he surrenders, the answer becomes a bit more murky and subjective. Also note that the fellow didn't surrender on landing, he was shooting and fighting.

We slaughtered the Romans in Yarmouk when they were done for and essentially in no state to fight. We did the same in Iraq to the Persians and turned the rivers red.

One thing is for sure, the fellow drank his tea well and went back and kept his honor and promise not to spread lies.

You get full marks for thinking out of the box. Your post made me realize something, but unfortunately China does not have any i.e. Harrier / F35B type of aircraft. So this idea also meets a dead end.

Now instead of a helicopter carrier + small corvettes, what PN needs is more frigates with space for a helicopter + UAV. But this is just my opinion.

No harm in speculating.

No KSA has no plans for an a/c carrier, as of now.

So you think those two one in satellite pics were ours??
I think ones destined for Pak are already undergoing flt tests + user acceptance trials.

So these birds "could be", cant say for sure, since they are manufacturing for themselves as well.

All these nay sayers need to be asked, what are PAF pilots doing in J-15's learning how to make chowmien?

So you think it will be additional Sqdns? Or some plane will retire to induct them??
