purchasing from China is a mix between improving capabilities and political purchasing. HQ-9 for sure was a political purchase. however our Naval officer went to China and he mentioned we have some interest in Chinese frigates, probably the 054A is what most is saying.

The UAE developed a based version of the Gaz-Tiger under the name Nimr which Algeria does operate but not sure if Kornet can be mounted on the vehicle or not. Can you please confirm.

Brother, it's the other way around.

1) UAE Nimr built under license in Algeria

Tawazun inks JV for Nimr manufacturing in Algeria
Filed on July 29, 2012

ABU DHABI — Tawazun Holding, the steadily growing manufacturer which is helping to build the industrial backbone of the UAE, has expanded its presence in the African defence market by inking of a joint venture agreement with Groupement de la Promotion de l’Industrie Mécanique, or GPIM, a company under the Algerian Ministry of National Defence’s Direction des Fabrications Militaires, or DFM, designed to create a new Algerian-based armored vehicle manufacturer. GPIM is the main automotive industrial arm of DFM.

The joint venture — which will see the new company produce UAE-designed armoured vehicles in Algeria under licence from Nimr — means that the UAE is now exporting its advanced defence technology know-how to other markets around the world. The agreement also allows Tawazun easier access to the African defence market, opening up new commercial opportunities for the fast-growing strategic manufacturer.
The newly-created company will initially target producing more than 200 4x4 armored vehicles after its set-up is complete.

more details:

2) Kornet, can very well be mounted on the 4X4 as well as the 6X6 variants

Here you can see anti-ship missiles, and below laser guided Talon missiles.

what many don't understand is that Morocco and Algeria are in arms race against each other, of course we know who is taking the lead (Algeria) while Morocco still lacks and that's because Morocco's defence budget is small and rely on a majority of their weapons to be free and 2nd hand weapons.
from what I understand was the Saudis have helped pay for some of Morocco's modernization project but they still need to invest in their own economics to grow stronger.

what I'm shocked about is this. Algeria surpassed India as our #1 largest buyer and really helped our defence companies. @Alpha bro continue to posting Algeria's defence procurement projects. I'm quite interested

following the Purchase of the Su-35, Algeria has an interest in acquiring an AWACs whether it be the A-50U or A-100 to strengthen their capabilities. I think they sent some air force officials to come inspect actually. but an acquirement might be made by next year.

Algiers- Boualam Ghimrasah

Algeria’s Defense Ministry published a statement revealing that Algerian-made army drones struck terror targets near the country’s southern borders.

This is the first time the ministry publicizes operating locally-made drones since it first declared war on terror in the mid-90s.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defense said the flights were ordered by Algerian Army Chief Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah, who paid a visit to the “sixth military zone” (near borders with Niger) in the last four days.

It also highlighted the role of Algerian-made drones in counterterror operations, adding that the aircrafts were capable of operating both nighttime and daytime missions effectively.

Despite saying targets were successfully struck, the statement did not mention the toll inflicted on terrorist formations.

In a related context, the Ministry of Defense announced that the army had discovered a weapons and munitions depot north-east the In Amenas town which lies on southeastern borders with Syria.

The weapons cache included rocket launchers and RPG-7 missiles, as well as machine guns, pistols, and ammunition.

In Air Force Command there has been talks about inducting an AWACs either A-50U, A-100 or An-148 AWAC from Ukraine, but most are believing the A-100 will be inducted since it's newer and will feature more high end technology and it's something our air force currently lacks. 4-5 will be purchased in the coming years.

Algeria has ordered additional Su-30MKA and MiG-29M/M2 fighters, the Russian business daily newspaper
Vedomosti
reported on 10 September.
The order was first reported by the MENA Defense website, which focuses on the Algerian military, and was corroborated by defence industry sources consulted by Vedomosti .

One source said the contract is worth about USD1.8 billion and covers 16 Su-30MKA (the Algerian version of the Su-30MKI) and 14 MiG-29M/M2 aircraft. He added that Algeria was expanding its fleet of Su-30MKAs - 58 of which have already been delivered - and also wanted to replace some of the obsolete MiG-29s it bought from Belarus and Ukraine in the early 2000s. Another source told the newspaper that the deal would be worth more than USD2 billion when weapons and other equipment are added.

I thought you guys hated the MiG-29s, why would the Algerian Air Force Command decide to buy a jet they highly dislike?

they purchased MiG-29M2 fighters to replace older MiG-29s they acquired from Belarus and Ukraine back in the early 2000's. the other thing is, they are showing Morocco they can buy more weapons from us then them, basically the purchases are to show Morocco, that they can buy more aggressive weaponry systems then them.

Algeria tests land-attack sub-launched missile
02 October 2019

Kilo_ii - Copy.jpg

Algeria has acquired land-attack missiles for its two new Project 636.1 'Improved Kilo'-class submarines, its Ministry of National Defence (MDN) revealed on 29 September, when it said both had fired missiles against land targets during a visit by Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah to the Mers el-Kabir naval base.

"The purpose of this exercise is to ensure the operational effectiveness of these two submarines," it said. "The firing was carried out successfully by destroying the terrestrial targets with great precision, which constitutes a new success."

Algerian television showed Lt Gen Salah and other senior officers watching from the coast as the submarines launched missiles from below the surface and then viewing a television screen showing impacts inside a circle that had been marked out on flat terrain.
