@BATMAN, I don' have a good feeling about this development. If this jet goes into Indian hands, that would create a new kind of headache for PAF, especially when it will be delivered before the Azm matures.

It's not going to make any more impact than Rafael, which has more potent a2a munition. There are neither any hints that India will buy it, but surely Russia would like to sell it to them, and every one else... but it's not today and definitely not next year, and it's premature to comment on any thing beyond.
Where it can checkmate Pakistan, is by capturing light fighter jet market. Earlier jF-17 had no competition in single engine light aircraft arena, which is not the case any more.
AZM development depends on range of factors, but socio economic situation of country will have the most impact, which is deteriorating fast and is a the single biggest enemy of all developments and growth.
Pakistan is a house of glass, which will crash the day remittances drop to certain threshold level, where Imran Khan and team, did their best to spoil and as per analysis of an economist, remittances from Saudi Arabia have started to show downward trend.

Denis Manturov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Russia, said in his statement:
We must return to the cohort of countries that sell similar equipment. If we take the American counterpart – this is the F-35, Europe – Gripen, also a Chinese aircraft, which was developed together with Pakistan (JF-17 Thunder)”, he said during MAKS 2021 airshow where the aircraft was presented.

I wouldn't be to worried about this, they need big pocket investors to finance this, look how far they have gotten with SU-57

They pulled out with the F-35 aircraft purchase, and it will be the reason they are going to get F-35
I would be extremely surprised if they went for the F35, in the mean time:

@Scorpio @aliraza @TomCat

Do you think there will be a twin engine Checkmate, aka Checkmate 2.0 ? ~^~
Not sure about that.

Given the history of Mikoyan Tech, They are very careful on their R&D budget unless they have a strong backing.

Checkmate can be justified given the long period of no new machine from Mikoyan except for MIG-35 which in turn is mostly an avionics upgrade.

If you have given some Dirhams to Mikoyan, Why not sheikh ?
