Siemens in Russia will supply equipment to equip the booster compressor station (BCS) at the Uchkyr field in the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan.
For the first time, two units will be delivered, each of which includes a compressor and gas turbine unit.
The assembly of compressors was arranged at the production site in the settlement of Gorelovo of Leningrad region, where technical tests of equipment were first carried out.
SGT-400 gas turbines are packaged by Siemens in the Netherlands.
“The Uchkyr field in Uzbekistan is specific with hydrogen sulfide admixture of about 1.4% in the process gas. This is a dangerous gas that reacts with metals, which causes corrosion deposits on the parts of the flow section of compressors. This often leads to the equipment being out of service. Therefore, the main task was to select materials that are resistant to such effects for compressors,” Nikolai Kutsenko, director of the Oil and Gas division of Siemens in Russia, said.

Uzbekistan is seeking to invest in mega gas pipeline project involving Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Uzbekistan is also seeking to invest in the construction of the pipeline and excavation works in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum welcomes Uzbekistan's interest in TAPI project, but says that it would be TAPI Limited company which would take final decision in selecting contracting companies.
800 kilometres of the pipeline would be in Afghanistan. The route of the pipeline has been determined and efforts are underway for land acquisition.
Uzbekneftegaz has expressed interest in building the pipeline and carrying out excavation works, however, it has also expressed its concern regarding security situation in Afghanistan.
Qadir Mutfi, a spokesman for Afghanistan's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said that Afghanistan has role in TAPI project as much as five percent of its share, adding it would be TAPI Limited which could select the investing companies.
The pipeline's total length is 1,814 kilometres.
It will pass Afghanistan's Herat, Farah, Nimroz, Helmand and Kandahar provinces before entering Pakistan.
Abdul Basir Azimi, an economic expert, believes joint investment by foreign companies in TAPI would benefit Afghanistan.
Afghanistan would purchase 500 million cubic metres of gas from Turkmenistan annually in the first 10 years. Its share would increase three-fold in the years that follow.

There are plans to produce tractors with a high level of localization in Uzbekistan and to sell these products on the markets of third countries, like Afghanistan and Pakistan. Uzbekistan intends to increase the level of mechanization of its livestock industry. According to Nodir Otajonov, a draft agreement with Gomselmash has been drafted, with plans to produce a wide range of products in Uzbekistan.
“All these agreements will pave the way for closer cooperation. The experience Belarus has amassed over many years is very much in demand. We would like these agreements to span a long period of time,” emphasized Nodir Otajonov. At the same time, the parties are in talks over personnel training at Belarusian factories.

The local market launch of the products made by Belarus-Uzbekistan pharmaceutical company that is being set up in Uzbekistan is scheduled for 2020, BelTA learned from Acting Director General of Belpharmprom Holding Viktor Shein.
Belpharmprom Holding, the Agency for Development of Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and Fagusal (Uzbekistan's company that sells wholesale pharmaceutical and medical products) signed a cooperation agreement on the sidelines of the 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan in Minsk. It is aimed at implementing a project to establish a joint venture to manufacture medicines in the form of pills and capsules.
Viktor Shein called this project transnational and strategic. The products are to be shipped to third countries, in particular, Afghanistan. "I think that next year, when the company will launch its products in Uzbekistan, we are highly likely to take part in bids in Afghanistan," he said.
The company will be registered this year. The project caught the interest of many Belarusian manufacturers, said Viktor Shein. “At first, six Belarusian enterprises got involved, after that their number rose to nine and subsequently to eleven. Therefore, in order to make the right business plan, we should take into account the wishes of all stakeholders, since the production line and equipment to be installed depend on the product range,” he explained.
This way Belarusian manufacturers are going to secure their foothold on the market of Uzbekistan. “The most important thing is to meet the domestic needs of our good partner, Uzbekistan that does not produce the pharmaceuticals that we manufacture,” he added.
