Egypt acquires 30 additional Rafale fighters - Press kits (dassault-aviation.com)

The Arab Republic of Egypt has decided to purchase an additional 30 Rafales to equip its air force.

This new order complements the first acquisition of 24 Rafales signed on February 2015 and will bring the number of Rafales flying under Egyptian colors to 54, making the Egyptian Air Force the second in the world after the French Air Force, to operate such a fleet of Rafales.

It reflects the strategic relation between Egypt and France. It emphasizes also the confidence of the highest Egyptian authorities in Dassault Aviation and their satisfaction with the effective execution of the first contract.

“This new order is proof of the unfailing bond that unites Egypt, the first foreign user of the Rafale, as it was for the Mirage 2000, with Dassault Aviation for nearly 50 years. It is also a tribute to the Rafale’s operational quality, as this is the second time an export customer has chosen to order additional aircraft. Dassault Aviation and its partners would like to thank the Egyptian authorities for this new mark of trust and assure them of their total commitment to meeting their expectations once again,” stated Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault aviation

South Korea on Tuesday signed a contract to sell K9 self-propelled howitzers to Egypt in a deal worth over 2 trillion won (US$1.65 billion), Seoul's arms procurement agency said, marking the artillery system's first entry into the African market.
Hanwha Defense, the South Korean manufacturer, and Egypt's defense ministry inked the largest K9 export deal in the Artillery House, a military facility in Cairo, capping more than 10 years of on-again, off-again talks.
The deal includes the production of K9s in Egypt and a technology transfer, according to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA).
The DAPA did not elaborate on other details, including when and how many K9 howitzers will be supplied to Egypt.
The deal will make Egypt the eighth foreign country to adopt the K9 system. The other countries that have chosen the system are Turkey, Poland, India, Norway, Finland, Estonia, and Australia.
"It is an achievement made through a combination of technological cooperation, collaboration in terms of localized production and pan-government support, which goes beyond just the transactional relationship between the two nations," DAPA chief Kang Eun-ho was quoted as saying.
The signing followed last month's summit between President Moon Jae-in and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo, which the DAPA said helped create much-needed momentum for the conclusion of the deal.
On the margins of the agreement, the DAPA and Egypt's defense ministry also signed a separate memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation in defense research and development.
Currently, more than 1,700 K9 variants are said to be in service in such countries as India.

At the International Defense Industry Exhibition IDEX 2023, held in the capital of Egypt, the new Raad 200 MLRS of the Egyptian army was presented for the first time. The Raad 200 MLRS consists of 80% Egyptian-made components and is placed on the chassis of the Soviet ATS-59G artillery tractor. The MLRS tractor is equipped with a German HD12ZLG-M engine with a power of 385 hp. The installation is designed to launch thirty 122-mm ammunition at a range of up to 45 km, similar to those used in the Russian Grad MLRS or the Egyptian-made Sakr MLRS. It is also possible to use the Egyptian Sakr thermobaric missile with a range of up to 20 km. The MLRS does not have armor, but the crew of the installation is better protected than in launchers of the BM-21 type. The RAAD 200 MLRS can reach a maximum speed of 46 km/h, overcome a slope of 35° and water ford up to 1.1 meters deep, and the cruising range of the unit is 350 km.
