Grace1 was breaking a UN Embargo, and Stena Impero hijacked from Int'l waters. This is not going to go down well.
There is no such "UN Embargo" and even UK did not claim that.

Regardless, US instituted law of the jungle rules instead of international law, so that's the way it is.

Now another tanker, this time OWNED by the UK (not just British-flagged like the Swedish-owned Stena Impero) was headed towards Saudi Arabia but turned course and is now in Iranian waters and going towards Iranian coast of Bandar Lengeh off Persian Gulf coast...

This tanker is called "MESDAR" and is Liberian-flagged (but UK owned).

Surely this is not being seized too...

Given that Grace 1 is nearly 5 times bigger, both countries just should keep the confiscated tankers, and move on with life. (:-)

Is the UK-owned MESDAR tanker big enough for you? ;)

(Not confirmed yet)

IRAN SEIZES BRITISH-FLAGGED STENA IMPERO OIL TANKER IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ

Earlier today, Gibraltar Supreme Court extended UK detention period of Iranian Grace 1 oil tanker for another 30 days. In response, almost immediately, Iran confirmed it seized the British-flagged Stena Impero oil tanker.

Iran warned that it would respond likewise to the British action if they did not release the ship, and they delivered on their promise.

I have a feeling Grace 1 tanker will be released soon... :)

But the funny thing is that Iran claims the tankers were seized because they were a threat to the environment.?

Iran thanks Saudi Arabia for release of its oil tanker Happiness 1: Fars

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran said on Sunday it appreciated Saudi Arabia’s efforts in the return of an Iranian ship that had docked at Jeddah port because of technical problems in May, the semi-official Fars news agency quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying.

“Iran appreciates efforts by the authorities of Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and Oman to secure the safe return of Iran’s Happiness 1 oil tanker,” Abbas Mousavi said.

Iranian media reported in early July that Saudi Arabia - Iran’s regional rival - was not allowing the ship to leave Jeddah because of a dispute over the payment of repair costs.
