Executive jet prices have crashed. For US$25m you can get a Global 6000, couple of years old.
they should make a bulk purchase for fleet replacement but they r stuck in old times of turbo props and saving 1k$ per flight not looking at capabilities

Terrorists that we are facing are really not high tech. Their favourite weapons are machine guns and RPGs. We don’t really need a super sophisticated MRAP. Even a basic configured vehicle will do it.

It is beyond conscious to buy planes for VIP transport and helicopters for the search and rescue and not get foot soldiers some semi decent protection.

Pakistan seemed to have several decent programs to produce their own vehicles but nothing materialized .It is a criminal negligence to me .

I remember this program well:

Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) commenced the development of the Burraq MRAP in 2009 to meet Pakistan Army's requirement for cheaper Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle's as lack of financial resources hampered its plans to acquire protected vehicles from United States, Germany and Turkey.[1][4]
The Burraq was first seen on Pakistan state media briefly in February 2010.[5]
In June 2011, International Defence Reviewreported that five prototypes / pre-production models of the Burraq MRAP were completed for trails & development work by Heavy Industries Taxila.[6]
On 19 March 2013, Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) announced that its Burraq MRAP Vehicle was nearing the end of its prototype phase and would be unveiled in next three to four months.[1]
In October 2013, a spokesman of Heavy Industries Taxila said, “Burraq is on hold,” but gave no reason.[7]

Then there is Hamza ... another whichever not seen in production.

HIT needs a good spanking imo

Turkish and Russia and South Africa are the best sources for Pakistan to get MRAP.

This is a single occurrence, but Waziristan heating up is not a good sign.

Yes but we often get these ridiculous judgements. I believe the government already appealed and no one was released .

US approves more surplus MRAPs for UAE

The US State Department has approved for the second time in six years the sale of 4,569 surplus mine-resistant, ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on 7 May that the vehicles would include unspecified numbers of Navistar MaxxPros, BAE Systems Caimans, and Oshkosh M-ATVs that would be taken from US Army stocks as excess defence articles (EDAs). The programme is estimated to be worth USD556 million.
“The UAE intends to utilise the MRAP vehicles to increase force protection, to conduct humanitarian assistance operations, and to protect critical infrastructure,” it said.
The DSCA announced the sale of exactly the same number of MaxxPro, Caiman, and M-ATV MRAPs to the UAE in September 2014. That notification gave a precise breakdown of the number and types of vehicles involved and said the programme was estimated to be worth USD2.5 billion.
The DSCA’s EDA database, which has not been updated since 2018, shows at least 815 surplus MaxxPros were delivered to the UAE.
The US Department of Defense announced in February 2017 that it had awarded a USD440 million contract to Navistar Defense to “reset and upgrade” 1,085 surplus MaxxPro for the UAE.
Southern Yemeni forces that are backed by the UAE have been seen operating MaxxPro, Caiman, and M-ATV vehicles. Saudi-backed Yemeni forces have also been seen with US-made equipment.
In February 2019 General Joseph Votel, the then-commander of US Central Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that the US had not authorised the UAE or Saudi Arabia to transfer US-made equipment to Yemeni forces.
