MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. Negotiations on supplies of Russian S-400 missile systems to Saudi Arabia are on the final lap, with the sides discussing technical and logistics details, Saudi Ambassador to Russia Raed bin Khaled Qrimli told TASS on Monday.
"Regarding the s-400, detail discussions are continuing between the two sides on the final arrangements of this. We are discussing technical issues, especially regarding technology transfer and know-how," he said.

Earlier, Russian president’s military technical cooperation aide Vladimir Kozhin said in an interview with the Kommersant daily that documents on S-400 deliveries to Saudi Arabia had been signed, with all the parameters agreed.

Russia’s S-400 Triumf (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) is the latest long-range anti-aircraft missile system that went into service in 2007. It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, and surface targets. The system can hit aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 400 kilometers (249 miles) and tactical ballistic targets flying at a speed of 4.8 km/s (3 mi/s) at a distance of up to 60 kilometers (37 miles). Such targets include cruise missiles, tactical and strategic aircraft and ballistic missile warheads.

The system’s radars detect aerial targets at a distance of up to 600 kilometers (373 miles). The system’s 48N6E3 surface-to-air missiles can hit aerodynamic targets at altitudes of 10,000-27,000 meters and ballistic threats at altitudes of 2,000-25,000 meters.

According to earlier reports, China was the first to sign a contract for such systems. Later on, Russia inked an intergovernmental agreement for S-400 sales with India. In 2017, such a contract was signed with Turkey.

After Turkey, Saudi Arabia should be careful if it intends to procure the f-35 in the future.
Saudi is already looking at alternatives for the F-35, after the Israelis blocked a potential sale, but of course that's off and on. some say that Saudis invested billions in the J-31 projects in hopes of license production

Current Co-production with Ukraine might be the milestone for a locally developed fighter jet.

in hopes of manufacturing a jet, the Ukrainians are basically manufacturing MiG-29s, just fitted with Ukrainian technology and I don't see the Saudis paying for a jet that is considered outdated and being phased out by the RuAF, MiG-35 would be a better choice in terms of speaking.

but if they were to get a 5th gen fighter and with the potential of license production or even a MRO plant setup, I see China being the first since they are always eyeing exports on Jets, and willing to hand out TOT, even on their most advanced jets, then I see the Russians with the SU-57, because they are trying to get as many countries invested, interested into as much as possible, then the US with their F-35A project, but that is still pretty complicated since the Israelis will most likely try and block the deal. and then you have Germany, France and Spain working on the Airbus FCAS, however we have an arms embargo as of now, but within a few years (2021) Karrenbauer will come into power and maybe she'll end the embargoment but we will wait and see.

the main difference between Turkey & Saudi Arabia is this, Saudi Arabia is not running around ticking off countries by allowing proxies to attack their own allies, (Turkey allowed their FSA group attack the US soldiers in Syria), and Saudi Arabia is not part of NATO, so they can most likely buy the S-400 without repercussions, even India purchased the S-400 and really didn't get threaten with CAASTA sanctions since they purchased 39 AH-64EIs, 10 CH-47FIs, NASAMS II Air Defence Systems, 24 MH-60Rs etc. they purchased a ton from NATO countries to avoid the CAASTA.

^^ Ture, I think Saudi Arabia is relying on the US/UK for TOT when it comes to fighter jets, attack helos and other land systems. Even the S-400 is going to be a pain in the ass to link with US-made system. The Saudi/Ukrain JV revolves around logistic aircraft e.g. transporters..fire fighting, search and rescue type of aircrafts. So far Al-Salam aero company has made progress in local overhauling, wings and spare parts manufacturing and assembly. SAMI also doing great in bombs, pods, communication systems, data linking...production.

So if PAF gets SU-35 then US should have no issues with giving us F-16's
HYPOTHETICALLY that figure shoud be going up to 36 from 24 IA.

I don't see why the US would refuse to sell more F-16s to Pakistan. China Su-35, PAF F-16s. Its only a matter of relocating the Su-35 to Pakistan. Pakistan has already taken a closer look to the Chinese operated Su-35, probably done a military exercise already involving the F-16 and Su-35.
