Turkey revs its ante

The Pentagon has approved a deal to sell $700 million worth of smartbombs to Turkey through its military sales scheme. This I suppose is in response to the heightened military situation in the Middle East. The reported sale of BLU-109 bunker busting bombs has the potential to tilt the balance of power in Turkey's favour. The bombs contain 550 pounds of highly active explosive principles and a fuse that delays detonation until it has penetrated its target deep underground achieving total destruction. It seems that Turkey is revving its ante in the face of a brutal onslaught with the PKK and a potential standoff in Syria with Russia over its military adventurism.
