Two things are happening. Indigenous avionics and custom built EW systems are being trialed and fine tuned.
Second, Russian engines are being trialed as well.

Obviously you want a tailor made system, and not an identical one in service elsewhere.

Russian engine on J15? So does that mean that the Chinese engine is still not up to par? I thought WS10 had gone through enough iterations and testing that it was now at the level where China was shifting away from importing Russian engines to power its jets...
...and started using WS10 variants on its flankers, J20, and J10.

WS10 engines on J15 would also have commonality with WS10 engine on J10. So it seems very puzzling to me

If i am not wrong last year you were talking about a PN air wing for mid 2025, and here come the good news. Any guess for delivery time line? Would be these new birds for PNAF or the old we get last year will be transfered to them?

If the Russians are OK supplying engines for an unauthorized copy of the flanker family (in their mind), why can't we go for J-16 instead of J-15? Unless Pakistan really wants the J-15 to one day (in the near future) operate off SinoCarriers.

Offcouse J16 make much more sense then J15. It can be used for land and sea role as well. Will give quock boost in air superiority
