J10 don't make sense to me. Unless it is a "stop gap lease" for a few year. In that case these could be older A/Bs that PLAAF can "donate".

If J10 is coming then they will definitely be replacing mirages, j15 are for navy.

J10 will still be relevant for next two decades because we can't have full 5th generation airforce in future so 4++ generations will still be relevant for future.

All snide comments aside. if this does transpire in the next 3-4 months i-e
40 J10 , 45 J15 along with F16s. It changes the dynamics all together for PAF and IAF. Now IAF needs to counter Chinese from LAC to Arunchal Pradesh (hot border). but now PAF is no longer the headache for their Western air command but also they will have to re-position assets along the western ghats. They will be stretched thin for the next 5 years atleast until they beef up. Add 2 x SSN to the mix with one permanently in the Bay of Bengal (support by PLAN bases in Myanmar), you take care of their strategic depth

Their big size affords them the strategic depth, but it also requires a heck of lot more assets to defend as well

I have a feeling that is why Pak capabilities are being bulked up in short order to pre-empt any pajeet misadventure. I think India does not want (or can afford) a full scale war. They want(ed) to keep Pakistan engaged in low intensity border war that would not be a big drain on their economy but disastrous for us in long term.

Agree, India has more to lose then Pakistan in a full scale war. Likes of Ambani's and Birlas will never want Modi to go to war but BJP does need something to show to their base after the humiliation they received at the hands on China. I suspect a false flag operation followed by incursion into kashmir and capturing some Pakistani posts, this would be their objective.

I say strike while the iron is still hot or in this case strike while the white elephant in the room is scared of the dragon.

That being said where will the 45+45 come from within the 3-5 months? J-10 could work out but 45 j-15? I dont think so. The chinese arent going to give them from their own quota.
