What does it mean when public opinion is not represented by the government's actions?
That means the public is not getting what it paid for. Let's say you go to the supermarket. You see a bottle labelled as milk. You look at it. It does look like milk. You look at the contents listed on the label. Yes, the contents listed look like milk. So you buy it. When you get home, you find out that you have been sold a bottle of white paint. Don't you get angry? Don't you go back to the supermarket to demand your money back?
Same with the government. Before we elected them, they told us that they are going to represent us. They told us that they are going to act in our best interests. Now, what did they do? Isn't it time to demand that they make good their promises? The promises they made before we gave them our votes?
