Looks like a downtown commercial area with reasonable hi rise buildings with fancy cars around. Don't think any fighter group will use such area for a missile factory. People will come up with their conspiracy theories where evil Israel will be held accountable lol.

Iran is known to smuggle weapons to Yemen by sea, I imagine they could do the same in Beirut, but my personal opinion the port was used because of the raw materials being brought through, the fireworks factory could have very well been a cover operation.

It's important to understand over past year Israel has been warning Lebanon it won't let Hezbollah produce guided missile factories in Lebanon and published satellite images of locations in Lebanon where it claims Hezbollah is stockpiling ballistic missiles or guided missile factories. They have been threatening to strike them too if it becomes a serious threat for them .

Also keep in mind they have people on the ground and within Hezbollah and planting explosives in these locations is better alternative than doing airstrikes which will trigger immediate war.

This could also be accidental explosion but it's most definitely weapons grade material if not ballistic missiles that blew up. Damage to Lebanese port is massive and Beirut in general.

Hezbollah if they suspect Israel will not announce it since it will require them to respond. Lebanese state also don't want civil war and won't implicate Hezbollah.

May God have mercy on the victims and Lebanon will surely receive help from various nations.

Must be a chemical warehouse at the port. Hezbullah is provided arms through land routes.

Airport ,sea port and land routes. Land route is more difficult for them to smuggle serious weapons and it mostly arrive via sea port and air port .

Cover for ...? They don't have issue in getting weapons to Lebanon. Issue is finding place to conceal them and store them. Their big missiles are stored in Beirut since there is no space in the south for that.

Oh you mean the storage of some fireworks there? That could be a possibility as well. Iran is trying to help them build some shorter range ballistic missiles in Lebanon and they need raw material for that which is likely what exploded today.

If Israel has a hand in this it is not good for Hezbollah. They are not able to deter Israel and Iran wants to preserve Hezbollah capabilities to be used at later time and to use them for Syria and other regional conflicts but now they are forced into awkward situation.

Very Irresponsible of them. It may have resulted in massive loss of live and property to Beirut.

That don't have other option from operational pov, but if this is the works of the Mossad than they're doing poor job of protecting these sites. It's similar to explosion in Iranian nuclear facility. It's also their fault as they don't respond to Israeli strikes in Syria and Israel realizes they are not interested in conflict at the moment and took advantage of that.

I personally do not believe it is accidental. The timing is also perfect because of Lebanese economic situation and Lebanese court trial against 7 Hezbollah members implicating them for the killing of Lebanese PM Hariri which was due later this week. Hezbollah can't respond now even if they suspect it is Israel since backlash from Lebanese society will be huge.

So it is military failure on their part. They put their forces in Syria and focused too much on sectarian conflicts and now they are in hard position.
