When you ask questions like these, better to put it down point-wise, so I can quickly address them.

  1. EDA-Being upgraded now. IA the first ones should roll out within a months time. Then flt testing will determine when they are to be delivered.
  2. NEW Blk70 - I have a figure in hand, but have been asked not to disclose, but can safely say a Sqdn has been approved. Whether it is a Sqdn like the Blk52's or not is another story.
  3. PAF existing fleet upgrades - IF and when decided they will be upto Blk72 specs.
  4. J15- Once they start landing in Pak Watan, we will discuss it then. BUT you are right on the part, more will be ordered once FOC is achieved.

If I missed anything, let me know.

Thanks!
Thank you Sir @Khafee. This is very encouraging news for PAF and Pakistan. In current hostile situation these new and used jets will give us a moral boost. And enemy of the state will have to face a beast if they intrude in Pakistan's air space. Thank. sir.

JFT and Blk3 in particular, have everything to do with Chengdu, so why people are assuming a 3rd Chinese platform, is beyond me.

tukka lagao musalmano wali kahani hai umeed par dunya qaim hai ... now i can sleep with a broad grin on my face

US knew and approved it. It was a way for the US state and defense dept to support Pakistan and circumvent US Congress imposed sanctions. Imperial Iranian AF was already flying F4 and F5s at the time. Why would they need Obsolete F86s?
USAF even assisted with integrating AIM9Bs on Chinese F-6s prior to 1971 conflict. Gen Charles Yeager was incharge of that program.
A7s were offered to Pakistan in the later half of 1970s in exchange of stopping work on nuclear program which we politely declined. We never actively sought the A7s.

On the contrary, we appear to have actively sought A-7s. Initially, the Ford Administration was open to it. They lifted sanctions/restrictions & allowed Pakistan to evaluate F-5 & A-7, of which A-7 was selected. It was when Pakistan signed the agreement with France for reprocessing plant that the US began stipulating forgoing nuclear ambitions in order to acquire the A-7s. When Carter came to power he put the entire A-7 deal on the backburner, both because of Pakistan's nuclear ambitions & his own diplomatic efforts to improve relations with India. At one point the US even tried to convince Shah of Iran to dissuade ZA Bhutto/Pakistan from pursuing nuclear weapons, to which the Shah replied that the US should first sell A-7 that Pakistan is seeking. He said and I am paraphrasing 'Pakistan has no air force at the moment' and that 'without A-7s he would have nothing to convince Pakistan with.' In between this seesaw, the US even tried communicating with India that the A-7s would not alter the balance in South Asia.

I would beg to differ. How would having 100 A7s fit into PAF's planning?
Wouldn't we go for F4s at the time? A7 is a subsonic bomber. What we desperately needed at the time was an all weather supersonic multirole aircraft.

These are the questions that came to my mind as well. The information I provided is based on the research I did for my thesis. There were narratives here & there but most of them generally summarized into what I wrote. Since my research had little do with PAF's acquisition I moved on from the topic after I got the needed gist of the A-7 affair. But my speculations are:

a) Cost factor: The US was selling Pakistan 110 A-7s for $500 million.

b) PAF needed a tactical attack aircraft for deep-strike precision bombings, & CAS.

c) A-7 had been tested for nuclear weapons delivery. PAF & PAEC had begun working on air deliverable nuclear weapons in the mid-1970s. PAF might have found A-7 is an efficient candidate in that role.

d) All of the above.

Bilal Khan from Quwa has done more research on the subject. Unfortunately, to access his work in details one needs to pay him.

In retrospect, yes. But you have to have a good idea to what's going on to be able to connect these dots.
If I go back a year and say this to my past self, the moron won't believe me.
Blessed are those who have the ability to break things up into smaller fragments and then connect them in multiple ways mentally and that too in span of seconds.

@Mangus Ortus Novem and @Mastankhan are two of those individuals I have come across. For me, It depends on the topic in hand, Background knowledge of the situation.
