Sejong the Great Class Destroyers were built and designed for conventional naval warfare, anti-submarine warfare and anti-air warfare. The class can also be used to escort other ships protecting them from enemy aircraft. The Sejong Destroyer class is also equipped with Aegis combat system. South Korea is considering equipping the Sejong class with SM-3 missiles for Ballistic missile defense threats. 3 are in service while another 3 are going to be built
