St. Louis's Riverfront Masterplan is in the works, it will include both walking and cycling paths, a terraced riverwalk, an area for events, and a couple places for the riverboats. this only a phase of a major redevelopment of the riverfront to attract more businesses, add housing units and to attract more tourism to the city.

St. Louis currently is at a crossroads with the County, economically yes we are booming but annexing suburbs is questionable.

St. Louis does wants to annex some suburbs such as Richmond Heights, Maplewood etc. it would help the areas we want to annex simply because because it would bring in economic development which will lead to jobs being created, and so much more. however there is issues regarding this proposal

1. the biggest issue, is a merger proposal with the County, the City currently functions as it's own independent entity, the county is trying to rid the city of having voice with this merger basically, county officials would keep their seat, city officials wouldn't,, and the "Metro govt" would be run by a "Metro govt" executive, the current County executive would run it, a majority (33 of 88) suburbs would be absorbed into the city, while the remaining 55 would become municipal districts, which would lose their police/fire depts. in the process so the County could run them/take over. our last mayor was in support of this proposal, our current mayor has no excitement about this proposal and it has been stopped (thank goodness). while on the surface this sounds good it really doesn't benefit the city much. most of the merger just helps the county gain economical development.
1). SLMPD (City Police) would be absorbed into the County Police.
2). the Airport would be privatized so the City and County both don't have control/say over it
3). gives the county more of a voice, city loses it's voice in regional politics (County is Republican, City is Democratic)

2). the other issue regarding the annexation proposal(s) is, County Republicans believe the City should be "handed off" to the State of Illinois due to crime rates. like any big city, we have a crime problem, however to completely hand a city off to another state due to it without other justification just proves how ignorant the County/rest of Missouri is. The County is having economical downs right now (have since ~2018). not only the county, but the State would lose a major sports city (which brings in economical revenue for the State too), a major museum district in the State and much more, however personally I'm up for it. let us go to Illinois :D

reminds me of Illinois lol. here in Chicago, Southern & Western Illinoisans complain about Chicago & Cook County, however the entire Chicago & Cook County area pays more in taxes and brings in the State more in revenue then the rest of the State. we had a couple Republicans who wanted us to become our entity alongside the County joining us becoming a potential 51st state. in fact HR1138 is urging federal congress so Cook County & Chicago will become the 51st state, several Republicans including one of our Republican candidates for governor was in staunch support of Chicago leaving Illinois until this year, but think he realizes how much money we generate for the State + how many companies been moving here

well Chicago has a very stronger voice in politics with no doubt, St. Louis is in a different ball game

for example, the county and city are so heated over who should control the region's airport, both sides are actually considering a legitimate privatization so neither side can have a say on how it should be run, currently the city manages the airport.

the only time the city truly has a major say in the State's laws and County proposals is if they believe there is a way for them to gain a tidbit of revenue coming in, other then they're like "St. Louis join Illinois". it fact, similar to Chicago, Missouri Republicans is trying to pass a bill where St. Louis City (City only) can become it's own independent State, I'd say go for it or at least join Illinois either way is fine by me.

the sad fact is, we are basically given 2 options by the County & State, either join the County and lose our voice or become an independent entity entirely, because the State does not want to acknowledge or help the city with a variety of issues.

Boeing will build the U.S. Navy's MQ-25 Stingray unmanned aerial refueler at a new 300,000ft2 facility at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Illinois. The facility will feature state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and tools, including robotic automation and advanced assembly techniques, to improve product quality and employee ergonomics.

The new facility, scheduled for completion in 2024, initially will employ approximately 150 mechanics, engineers, and support staff who will build the MQ-25 Stingray, the Navy’s first operational, carrier-based unmanned aircraft. Employment could reach up to 300 with additional orders.

“The world’s largest aerospace company is doubling down on Illinois because of our unparalleled assets in the transportation and logistics sector and the world-class talent of our people,” said Gov. JB Pritzker. “To prepare our communities for the future, my administration is committed to making continued investments that will modernize our airports, spark new innovation, and bring jobs and economic opportunities to our communities from Chicago to St. Clair and beyond.”

Boeing digitally engineered the entire MQ-25 aircraft and its systems, resulting in high-fidelity models that are used to drive quality, efficiency, and flexibility throughout the production and sustainment process.

“The team and state-of-the-art technology we’re bringing to the Navy’s MQ-25 program is unprecedented, and we’re incredibly proud to be expanding both as we build the future of autonomous systems in Illinois,” said Kristin Robertson, vice president and general manager of Autonomous Systems, Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “We’ve received great support from MidAmerica Airport and countless dedicated employees, and we’re excited to build the Navy’s first operational, carrier-based unmanned aircraft right here in the Metro East.”

For two years, Boeing and the Navy have been flight testing the Boeing-owned MQ-25 test asset T1 from MidAmerica Airport, where in recent history-making missions T1 has refueled an F/A-18 Super Hornet, an E-2D Hawkeye, and an F-35C Lightning II.

The U.S. Navy intends to procure more than 70 MQ-25 aircraft to help extend the range of the carrier air wing, and the majority of those will be built in the new facility. Boeing is currently producing the first seven MQ-25 aircraft, plus two ground test articles, at its St. Louis facilities, and they will be transported to MidAmerica for flight test. The MQ-25 program office, including its core engineering team, will remain based in St. Louis.

The new MQ-25 facility will be in addition to existing manufacturing operations at Boeing St. Clair, which produces components for the CH-47 Chinook, F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-15, and other defense products.
