US would think very carefully before signing such an agreement with India. They need to prop up India to balance China...but it would be highly unfavorable to be dragged into a war bcuz of India.

Ideal situation for US is India/China fight and weaken each other...US remains on top...status quo remains. US also knows the maniacs like those in BJP(with RSS ties) who would blunder into a war for merely some brownie points to win elections...if there existed some mutual defence pact...that could cost US to spend billions and fight a prolonged war that can even go nuclear...
...so it would just be better for them to arm India and egg them on to fight alone(without India realizing it).

i don't think that is going to happen, India has a say and it will not go away any soon.

China has a habit of working together with everyone regardless of who he or she is, they mean business. they have a slogan of "WIN WIN for all" and with that slogan they buy influence than any other way to do it.

i have been to China countless times and had a chance on certain forums where Indians are also invited.
Chinese people meet and greet with everybody, those forums on govt level, private and related to any particular field. and yes, they toe the govt line according to the sensitivity as and when needed.

several times i asked and discussed with them how did they find Indians and Pakistanis and they're often found saying:
"they like Pakistanis as they are good at heart and Indians are more professional comparatively, play clever"
