Actually it is very common for Arabs to eat any chicken and beef here. They tell us to just read bismillah and eat it. According to Arab sheikhs here it is permissible .
I stay away from such stuff. There is no shortage of halal meat shops and restaurants.

I lived in Cleveland for 10 years alone as a student and after. Halal meat shops were very far from the campus.
I still never ate haram .... sometimes cooked , sometimes showed up dinner time to my friends house .

Once this girl offered me pork fried rice for dinner while studying late . I told her I don’t eat pork sorry. after a while she came back with a plate saying that she has picked out every bitof pork out for me . I was speechless . I explained her again that sorry I can’t even touch anything with pork .... it was pretty romantic though ???
Then yall got married and had 3 children named ali, Shan and zainab. Now yall are married happily ever after....the end.

Chicken/beef/mutton is always halal. Being zabiha is another matter :) there are different schools of thought here especially in the US. I tend to go with my Arab brethren on this ?.

I was in FL for a business trip. Ordered some shrimps. These were massive grilled shrimp size of a quarter plate. But they served them on a bed of bacon! So my colleague is just pick them up and wipe them. I was like yeah not how it works. Still think about those....
Nope cause u just decided to throw away the fact that there are certain things that make it halal. Such as how its slaughtered and the treatment of the animals. It's not as simple as saying "in the name of god"

What u mean
I love how the Arabs here say bismillah and what the beef and chicken frm fast food restaurants. Like ok, ignore all those slaughtering processes which make it halal.

There is a school of thought, that finds it acceptable. I personally dont. Unless I'm 200% sure it is not Halal, I stick to vegetables or sea food.

But most shell fish are filter feeders though.

I wish those people that are supposed to be providing a clear cut answer, stop stuffing their faces in halwa and meddling in politics. Instead do the job they are intended to do.

There is no school of thought that explicitly says it is Haram, so maybe one can indulge in it?

Apologies, I am no scholar, but I have heard conflicting news. So as my nature, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
We have very simple and straightforward religion. Our Prophet is source of everything here. We have to extract proofs from his life and then from his companions.
In simple matters like this, any respectable scholar, no matter how great in status and knowledge, must bring proof from the life of Prophet (PBUH).

The Prophet (PBUH) and his companions ate the meat of camel. There are several Ahadees about it, but I never saw any hadees describing breaking of wudu.

Any scholar, asking for renewal of wudu after eating camel's meat should explain it further.

No idea but when I first came here i didnt eat meat for 2 years until i found where and how to get halal. Now imagine a person who's cuisine is 95% meat cant get meat. It was horrible but still I didnt get nor buy any of the meats that were found on the market. Even after arabs insisting that just say "bismillah"

This is why I hats the clergy its destroying islam just like the Christian church did to their religion.

I hope someone sane enough comes to power and initiates a new academic center for Islam. The new Baghdad were all questions can be answered from and reached all over the world. If you go through this thread I had recommended a system.

You say bismillah before eating anything, it does not mean they are converting the food into halal food.

Any of you guys know how to drive manual transmission cars? If so, was it hard for you to learn it and become smooth at clutch release?

I learned on manual transmission first so not a big deal even after not driving one for 20 years. I just got a manual Mazda3 as my commuter car. I am enjoying manual transmission especially in hilly Seattle streets. Seattle has some areas just as steep as San Francisco.
