Those of us living near the southern border of the United States have been watchful for a while, thinking something like this was probably going on behind the scenes. I've heard reports for a few years now that the Mexican drug cartels have been collaborating with Hamas, which was very alarming. It seems the situation has escalated even further, and I hope our next president is paying attention and understands the significance of this situation. Isis recruiters planned on open jihadi smuggling route from Syria through Mexico into US Just because some have been caught does not mean all have been caught, nor does it mean the plan was halted.

We have 2 housemaid now. The first one has been with us for a year already and the second one is just a month with us. They are both from the province. This second housemaid is being courted by ISIS via Facebook chat. She admitted that she is somewhat inclined to join because of the promise of a better life (on earth) and a sure way to go to heaven (if she joins). According to their conversations in private messages, ISIS is willing to send her money to uplift the economic situation of her family if she would leave us and go to Middle East (no particular country yet) with the full support of ISIS.

We are sort of scared by that revelation.

Have you mentioned this to the authorities? I certainly wouldn't want that person living in my house, and especially wouldn't want her associating with, or raising my children. I'd be concerned, because if nothing else, there's a chance if she is actually in contact with ISIS, they could have access to your home network. Additionally, law enforcement is monitoring ISIS, and if you let the situation persist, you could be considered sympathizers and/or collaborators. There's also a possibility that the people she's in contact with are actually law enforcement using a sting operation posing as ISIS, in order to draw out sympathizers.

I'm not sure where you got information that Hamas works with Mexican cartels. You might be referring to reports about Hezbollah working with them to help fund their movement, even that isn't true. Hamas has no interest in south/north American region. Hamas is not a global jihadist group, it's a Palestinian nationalist movement. And US ex-Presidents, EU and US current officials meet with Hamas for talks on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Hamas's political chief is in Qatar, and Qatar is a US ally that acts as a mediator to help advance two state solution and truce's in Gaza.

So they are looking for girls? What a childish group, that declares to be pious. How are women supposed to assist them in their struggle? Is their struggle about political self determination or trying to lure any women they can get? They gain nothing by demanding people that lack any skills.

So do not worry, this shows us the mental capacity of this militant group, and it is not impressive to say the least. This group will die out in a few years.

Anyway, you should help her out and discourage her from such a thing.

Last year I had read the news about the 3 female college students in London who all went to Syria to join ISIS. Their parents went after them only to find out that their daughters have been married to ISIS fighters. And the way those girls were courted, the ISIS internet brigade spent much time and effort in convincing them.

Our housemaid said that ISIS needs women because sex makes them strong. And ISIS also has a lot of money so if our housemaid would agree, she would be given a sum for her family plust the plane ticket to the Middle East (she said it is Dubai but I doubt it).

Sure does! |0| (:-)

On a serious note, looks like she's making something up to get pay raise or something. Dubai is not center for ISIS. :)

This is Dubai:

I'm kind of surprised that they didn't already have these routes already after collaborating with every form of illegal group out of Mexico and Cuba among others. Specifically, I had heard that their efforts with the Mexican cartels were to help them get routes to the west coast of the US, while their activities with Cuba (whom Obama now supports!) was to get routes through the east coast. Whenever the media announces that this group or that group is now doing something like Jihadi smuggling or sex slaves or anything else like that, you can be sure that it's already been going on for months or for years long before they found out about it.

@Falcon29 I've seen reports over the years citing Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, and now ISIS collaborating with the cartels. It's difficult to track down stories, because the press in Mexico is very reluctant to name names and report actual news. The drug cartels target journalists, and even bloggers, for kidnapping, torture and death, so the mainstream press has effectively been silenced on these types of subjects, and mainly reports on mundane matters.

Don't listen to such reports, Hamas has no use for such a thing. It's propaganda aimed at demonizing them. Hamas does not consider the US an enemy nor does the US consider Hamas an enemy. Cartels could care less about either group too.

All reports are propaganda. ISIS is a group of Iraqi baathists in Iraq, and foreign Arab Islamists in Syria. It's against all their religions to to deal drugs or deal with any drug related activity.

Our housemaid didn't finish grade school so it is difficult to imagine that she is pulling my leg. Perhaps she is bent on going to Dubai for she has friends there. I tend to believe that her ISIS suitor is laying a trap so she would agree to join.. by passing thru Dubai as a side trip maybe. I know that she has to pass by Turkey or Jordan (just my impression) to get to Syria. By the way, she also mentioned that someone would get her from Dubai, an escort maybe.

@Corzhens How old is your housemaid? Is she at all familiar with human smuggling/sexual trafficking? It sounds as if she's a bit naive and has romantic notions about how any such moves would end, which is how so many young people end up in harm's way. I know it's easy to be tempted when one is desperate to improve one's situation, but it doesn't sound as if following up on these conversations would put her in better circumstances.

@Falcon29 I take everything these days with a grain of salt. It's difficult to know who is telling the truth, and it seems even those involved in such activities try to exaggerate their own importance for various reasons. Suffice it to say that I don't approve of anyone coming across any of our borders illegally, and there are many already here (of various sorts) that I also don't trust.

Our housemaid is with us for a month although she is a relative of my husband's colleague. She is 20 years old and had only reached grade 1 but she can read and write and knows how to access the internet particularly Facebook. You are right, she is naive and maybe a romantic. Since she is not good-looking, maybe she thinks that the ISIS suitor is her escape from reality (here). We haven't talked about it with her because we are giving her the freedom. Besides, we don't really know if indeed that guy is an ISIS although there is promise of money for our housemaid's family if ever she agrees to go to Dubai to meet him.

I know ISIS will be trying many different methods to infiltrate the West. However, some of these revelations don't seem to add upp. For instance, the issue of Cuba collaborating with ISIS is far fetched, I believe. The history of Cuba is more one of liberation than terrorism, and we should remember Cuba being a satellite of Russia would make it hardly likely that they would support ISIS.

Okay. This is quite alarming actually. I mean, you know all this. Apart from the fact that this woman is a total idiot, pardon my language here, but if she is seriously thinking about this together with promised afterlife greatness, she is a bit slow, if not than I apologize to the lady and to you too. However, what I am worried about is your knowing about this. Have you contacted the police about these because if you know and you keep quiet you become an accomplice. Who knows what she might do or what the police could track by those mails.
