Just look at the number of people that attended Block 3 first flight ceremony.

China might be developing a new stealth fighter, if an announcement from the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment—a government research organization—is any indication.
For those keeping count, the new plane could be the sixth manned, radar-evading warplane in service or in development in China.

To put that in context, the world’s leading operator of stealth aircraft, the United States, has fielded six different manned stealth aircraft types, five of which remain in service—the F-117, the B-2, the F-22 and the three highly distinctive variants of the F-35.
The U.S. armed services meanwhile are developing three new manned stealth warplanes—two fighters and a bomber. That’s nine against China’s six.
All that is to say, don’t get too excited for this Chinese mystery-plane. It’s not about to change the world.

Aviation blog Alert 5 was among the first to notethe Chinese Aeronautical Establishment’s announcement after the notice appeared on a Chinese social-media platform in late June.

The Chinese Aeronautical Establishment sent personnel to the Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute and the 29th Research Institute of the China Electronics Technology Group in order to support a “new-generation” fighter that is slated to fly in 2021, according to the post.
As Alert 5 pointed out, the fighter could be a variant of one of China’s existing stealth types. It also could be a new design. Either way, the announcement underscores the intensity of China’s aviation-modernization efforts. Beijing is second only to Washington in the variety and sophistication of the new warplane types it’s funding.
To be clear, the Shenyang project isn’t exactly a secret. State media revealed its existence back in 2018, in a story about Shenyang’s work on advanced composite materials and radar-blocking S-shape engine inlets.
State media at the time was circumspect about the project’s exact nature. “Some military observers have speculated that the new fighter jet could be an upgraded, domestic version of the FC-31, while others predict it could be an entirely different aircraft,” Global Timesexplained.

Unlike the military-sponsored J-20—China’s first and so far only in-service stealth warplane—Shenyang’s twin-engine FC-31 is a private venture.
Shenyang has yet to find a buyer for the type, which is similar in shape to, but smaller than, the U.S. Air Force’s F-22. There are persistent rumors that Shenyang hopes to sell a variant of the FC-31 to the Chinese navy for operations from the fleet’s new aircraft carriers.
The new fighter the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment mentioned in its social-media post could be this naval FC-31. It also could be the stealthy JH-XX fighter-bomber that the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency hinted at in a 2019 report.
Of course, it might also be the conceptual J-18 stealth jump jet that has been a popular topic of speculation in Chinese media since at least 2011.

Or it’s a brand-new, radar-evading design—potentially China’s sixth after the J-20, FC-31, J-18, JH-XX and H-20 stealth bomber.
But don’t panic. As impressive as China’s inventory of real and theoretical stealth warplanes might seem, America’s own inventory of stealth types is bigger and more real.

China after all actually operates at most just a few dozen J-20s. Everything else exists only on paper or in a laboratory. By contrast, the Pentagon’s hundreds of radar-evading planes crowd tarmacs all over the world.
The U.S. Air Force retired its 52 1980s-vintage F-117s back in 2008, although a few of the wedge-shape attack planes still fly in support of secretive military trials. Twenty ‘90s-vintage B-2 stealth bombers remain in service with the Air Force, which also possesses 185 F-22s.

The Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy together fly around 400 F-35s against a requirement for 2,300 of the type. The first of the Air Force’s new B-21 stealth bombers is under construction and could fly in 2021. The service wants at least 100 B-21s.
The Air Force and Navy meanwhile are spending billions of dollars each designing new stealth fighters to follow the F-35.
So yes, China might have a new stealth fighter design. But no, this is neither terribly surprising nor deeply meaningful to the world’s balance of power.

China's new-generation fighter jet scheduled to make maiden flight in 2021: report

China's new-generation fighter jet is scheduled to make its maiden flight in 2021, an aviation industry report revealed on Monday. Analysts speculate that it will be China's new aircraft carrier-based fighter jet.

A team at China Aero-Polytechnology Establishment under the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has resumed work while fighting the COVID-19 epidemic with the aim of supporting the scheduled maiden flight of a new-generation fighter jet in 2021, according to a statement the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment released on its WeChat public account on Monday.

The statement was removed by its publisher as of Tuesday evening.

This team is responsible for the new fighter jet's basic technology project, and other institutes, including AVIC Shenyang Aircraft Design and Research Institute and the Chengdu-based No.29 Research Institute under the state-owned China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), are also involved in its development, according to the statement.

The statement did not elaborate on the details of the new fighter jet, but the Shenyang institute is known for the development of the J-15, China's first type of aircraft carrier-based fighter jet, and the FC-31, China's second type of stealth aircraft rumored to be under deep modification to become a new aircraft carrier-based fighter jet.

Based on available information, it is possible that the new fighter jet introduced in the Chinese Aeronautical Establishment statement is indeed a new aircraft carrier-based fighter jet developed from the FC-31, Fu Qianshao, a Chinese air defense expert, told the Global Times on Tuesday.

Fu said that while the Chinese Air Force may eventually require a medium-sized stealth fighter jet to accompany the heavy J-20 stealth fighter jet, the Chinese Navy is in more urgent need of a stealth fighter jet on China's future aircraft carriers, as the US has already developed F-35B and F-35C stealth fighter jets for amphibious assault ships and aircraft carriers.

If this is the case, it will likely take another five years or so of testing following the maiden flight in 2021 to put the new fighter jet into active service, Fu said, noting that this time period could be shortened because the FC-31 has been tested as a technical demonstrator for many years.

According to a statement released by the Shenyang institute in December 2019, it has started developing a new type of fighter jet jointly with AVIC Manufacturing Technology Institute since 2018. This older report did not elaborate on the specifics of the new aircraft.

China is reportedly building its third and more advanced aircraft carrier at Shanghai's Jiangnan Shipyard, which is expected to be launched and commissioned in the 2020s. A more advanced fighter jet could greatly enhance the carrier's combat capability, analysts said.

There has also been speculation online by military enthusiasts claiming the new fighter jet could be a drone fighter jet or a space fighter jet.

World is already moving past 5th Gen fighters and If cant even make our own 5th gen in next 10 years , Whats even the point of investing so much , RnD for Radar and engines and fully manufacturing our 5th gen fighter will take almost a decade and then producing the required numbers will tak 4-5 years more , We are gen behind from these large defence manufacturer around the world and if PAF is thinking for taking atleast 15 more years for 5th gen fighter , it wouldnt be a surprise if we will be behind 2 gens in the future

Hi,

Welcome to the forum---. How so wonderful is it to be young---but then old age has its own merits.

There is a misconception about the 5th gen aircraft---. The world hardly knows anything about these aircraft. Actually most of the world is clueless how to tackle them---. Even though we come up with certain scenarios to defeat them---but in reality---we have no idea what to fight them with---.

And you know this how? Because no offense but it sounds like some 3rd rate urdu YouTube video on "PAFs future power"

99% of the people know that it was till block 3, nothing beyond that has ever been brought up or teased about.

listen to AVM Latif, and if you remember 250 aircraft were intended in blocks of 50, do the maths, and what exactly is wrong with block approach? i think it's brilliant

What would make sense if the technologies meant for azm are tested on newer blocks of jefs. That seems reasonable and realistic, so if that's what you meant then yes it makes sense.

Would become killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
Jefs remain relevant and undated while azm technologies get field tested.

Very true that's exactly I was thinking.... Why so many people if it was mere upgrade.... This is must be whole new aircraft

Yeah , It was rumored that a total of 3 prototypes were to be made , 1 in China that was made in 2019 , two were supposed to be made in Pakistan in 2020 , Half of 2020 has passed and we still havent seen the 2nd prototype , Dont think production will start before mid 2021
