the political dynamics have changed the situation again in last 48 hrs.... EFT-1 is again on top of the list .... J-xx is entirely different project for PN....although it is being pitched in parallel. Finances for J-xx is not an issue ....Chinese are more than hurry to develop PN air arm for their own CPEC objectives. and we might see some thing on ground soorer thn expected.

With old F-16 in use PAF would be needing replacement of F-16 as well, along side mirages.

Considerations:
1. Which new aircraft type ( new or used F-16 or J-15) should be inducted in Air superiority squadrons?
2. Should TA or AS squadrons be converted to MR squadrons if more F-16s and JF-17 are inducted ?
3. Should be PAF get a dedicated strike aircraft for TA squadrons like J-15 ?
4. Should PAF assist PN in raising a Maritime strike squadron or retain 8th Sqn for under itself for Naval support?
5. Should AS squadrons get assigned to J-15 or EF, if these are inducted ? what other choice does PAF have for Air superiority aircraft ?

1 & 5 Air Superiority Role:
EF will be the best suited hands down, provided we get Captor-E and Meteor. (Lowest frontal RCS of the 3).
Next should be Block-72 F-16, if we get AIM-120D - Otherwise - J-15 with PL-15

3. MR can suffice.
4. We are not a maritime power nor do we have power projection objectives. Hence if PAF adheres to it's maritime security duties diligently and works in sync with the PN ... things will be hunky dory for now. But PAF should never repeat it's follies of '71, when the CAS of the time AM Abdur Rahim Khan said "The navy can fight it's own battles" when the PAF was asked to assist the navy at that time.

If finance was not a problem, buddy we could've even been offered F-15/18s. The real issue is our finance

Maybe US may finnaly see its grip on PAF diminishing due to these juicy offers from the Chinese and they may make more attractive offers. We must not sell ourselves short like last time.

Yeh according to Sami it's first hand account by person who was sitting in meeting with IK and Shi my guess is probably Asif or Qureshi? Shi said take what u like and IK said these are expensive systems we pay U every single penny but Shi said that's not issue any thing u want u can have it if PAF gets J20 I won't be surprise then
